OMFG! :scared14:

The trailer starts off showing a character–presumably Dark Souls 2‘s protagonist–dressed in full armor as he carefully makes his way through a forest. A forest full of things that want to kill him, we imagine. “You are the undead,” a menacing narrator says during the cinematic trailer as we’re shown scenes of some kind of fortress, and a cave. “Forever without hope, forever without light.”

Afterwards, we’re shown scenes of a fallen dragon who, as it turns out, is not quite fallen. The protagonist is also seen fighting a masked figure, who gets the receiving end of the protagonist’s sword planted right through his head. Sadly, we don’t know anything more about Dark Souls 2. The debut trailer didn’t show us any in-engine gameplay, and the trailer didn’t say whether or not Dark Souls 2 is coming to any current-generation consoles, or if it will be for Microsoft and Sony’s as-yet unannounced next-gen hardware.

Fcuk yeah, bring it ON! :death:

We have ample time until it releases so I should be done with the hang over of the previous titles by the time it releases. We completed two Souls titles this year, WTF?!

and the best part is, we will be playing it day-1 and with no guides or walkthrough videos to help us. :P

I hope they announce it for this year itself and better focus on the PC development this time. Don't want it to end up in another port fiasco.

I pray and hope Namco Bandai gives adequate support to From Software this time for the development of the title. The devs. are unfamiliar with the PC platform and looks like they can greatly rely on some help from sources outside. Durante? :P

Amazon's pre-orders are up! :P

This time however, the director of the game is Tomohiro Shibuya and Hidetaka Mizayaki shall be serving as the supervisor. Which could mean that the game can get a bit easier since he has indicated that he wants a larger crowd to enjoy the title and not quit early on, due to the difficulty. I'd wish the same - to lessen the difficulty a bit by providing plenty of checkpoints or shortcuts within a level and/or toning down the AI may be by a couple of notches at least during the early levels so that players who are fairly new to this series can catch up with minimal hardships. This may disappoint the hard core fans though. :P

Dark Souls got rid of the annoying World Tendency and Character Tendency present in Demon's Souls which IMO was a welcome change. Many were unaware of the changes the world tendency did because most bosses could be cleared in one shot or at the most two. But if we were to die a lot of times before facing the boss of a particular level, the world tendency would gradually shift to black and later pure black (known as PBWT) which can have a pretty bad impact on the course of the playthrough. I had personally experienced this on one stage (World 4-3 IIRC) and the AI became a whole lot harder with black phantoms added to the stage at various locations which wouldn't go down easily. Fortunately I cleared that level and swore not to come back again! OTOH, white tendency makes the level a lot easier. The player becomes stronger with better loot drops.

All i wish is they make the game a little more brighter, aleast so i dont have to strain my eyes.(Already wearing glasses >.<). The difficult is perfect, else it might just turn into a hack and slash.

Some theories are pointing to this being a prequel -

Yeah, that initial part of the sequence with that fortress risen above the clouds with the setting sun looks pretty much like Anor Londo. If the guy in the furry armor shown in the beginning of the trailer is indeed the first born of Gwyn then we are perhaps looking at a prequel here.

I so desire Solaire to make a come back for the new title - all that I cared about in Dark Souls other than enjoying the title itself, was to ensure Solaire survives through the entire game. And he did! Solaire was so awesome that he was even featured as a NPC in Borderlands 2! The world loves him! :D

Edge Magazine UK Details!

- Edge says they were shown a 10 minute playthrough of Dark Souls 2, and it is a huge step forward graphically. It looks on par with Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313 in terms of "next-gen"-ness, or so they claim.

- Miyazaki is not working on the development of Dark Souls 2. He is not a director or producer, and is merely a "supervisor".

- Even as a supervisor, he isn't making any development decisions. He only tried to reinforce the team's commitment to releasing things on time, because of the bad experience they had with the patches in Dark Souls, and he also recommended the return to server-based gameplay ala Demon's Souls.

- The new directors, Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura, are indeed the From Software staff who previously directed the Another Century's Episode series. The decision to have the two directors replace Miyazaki was a company decision made by both From Software and Namco Bandai Games to help move the series forward in a fresh direction.

- Miyazaki is working full time on directing a new game. He will not disclose if it is a new IP or a sequel to something else.

- Darks Souls 2 will be a direct sequel, and have an open world of about the same size, but more dense with content.

- It does not take place on Lordran. The name of the world is the key of the story, they will reveal it at a later date.

- One thing Shibuya wants to enhance is the action in the game. He feels that he can contribute because of his experience working on action games in the past.

- Shibuya says he wants to make things like the Covenant system clearer and more accessible, and he wants to make the story and messaging less subtle.

- He promises there will still be "hidden" elements in the story and world which can be missed.

- Development started in September last year, and was done in parallel with some of the Dark Souls patches and DLC content.

- The game is 25% complete, and the team is substantially larger than Dark Souls. The world creation internal staff for the sequel is nearly double that of the first game.

- The game might not make it for 2013.

- They showed a fat grotesque creature, which Shibuya said was the result of the fusing of different creatures by a mad scientist character in the game, like Frankenstein.

- Another new enemy is a Nazgul-like black rider, who apparently serves as an executioner of evil doers. Shibuya confirms there is some sort of morality system in the game.

Edit: - They are also exploring vehicles for the game, and the potential of players controlling them. By vehicles, think things like chariots and boats instead of cars.

Dafaq? :(

Haha, now bring on quicktravel, quest markers, party members, romance options, loyalty missions, regenrating health, cover system, iron sights, map pack DLC and you have another GOTY :D After all, it should cater to a larger audience right? Lol.

Dark Souls 2 'world premier' gameplay reveal tomorrow (which is today):

The first Dark Souls 2 gameplay footage will be released tomorrow, April 10.

IGN is hosting the 'world premier' with a 12-minute gameplay video of the sequel in action, it has confirmed via Twitter, along with releasing a teaser image (right).

CVG has seen the game, and will publish an in-depth Dark Souls 2 preview later this week.

The sequel was first unveiled via a Dark Souls 2 trailer at the Spike Video Game Awards. It will be the first in the Souls series not to be helmed by creator from Hidetaka Miyazaki. Instead newcomers Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura will take the reins, with Miyazaki supervising.

While the game promises to be "more straightforward and more understandable" than its predecessor, Miyazaki has moved to allay fears that the sequel could tone down the series' trademark high difficulty.

"If we're going to announce this as a sequel to Dark Souls then I think there's certainly a core that we need to protect," he said.

"I'm talking about how we think about the difficulty level and how you achieve things in-game; about the concepts behind the mechanics and level design. Outside of that core, though, I think it's better to leave things to the discretion of the director."

Nice! Let's hope for the best. Though the 12 minute trailer wouldn't explain much about the difficulty aspect of the game which Miyazaki san claims is a part of the core they intend to protect. I hope the game's development is in right hands!

*fingers crossed*
