DELL warranty - Su*ks

Employees at Dell India need to file their taxes on Monday.

Then they should mention in the Bill like this:

Advanced next business Day Replacement warranty - * Only if any of our employee is 'Free' to handle your case and only if we have any refurbished monitor in stock!

Me: Sir, I want to know the status of the case no: ****
CC: Today is Holiday in DELL. Tomorrow is Saturday, so please call on Tuesday, because Monday we will be very busy(??????).

LOL.. i dont mean to offend you, but that sounds really funny.

Hey, anywhere in the warranty terms does it mention that the replacement unit will be brand new or it would be refurbished?

Dunno what the policies are out in India but in the US, Dell's support policy for their monitors is limited to an exchange for the nearest equivalent; they rarely keep any examples of a model back for warranty replacements when that model is discontinued. Sometimes you win with Dell's support policy, sometimes you don't. However, it's quite possible that the premium Dell monitor you buy today will not have an equivalent other than a cheap low end TN monitor by the time the warranty is drawing to a close; in that situation your replacement will be a cheap TN monitor.

If you can do it, push for a full refund of some sort or ask them to upgrade you the best available upper range monitor and you can pay the difference in invoice.

So should I accept a Maruthi-800 instead of my Swift?

Looks like you did not get my point. To make it clear from the example you sighted, does Dell assure you "brand new Maruti-800" or "Refurbished Maruti-800" for the "used Maruti-800" u've RMAed :P

Anyways, here's Dell's replacement poilicy:
3. REPLACEMENT

3.1 Dell reserves the right to replace the whole of the Products or any part or parts thereof which may be found to be faulty or in need of investigation even where only a part of the Products are so faulty or in need of investigation.

3.2 Dell, in effecting such replacement, is under no obligation to use Products or any parts thereof which are identical in all respects to the faulty Products. Unless local laws determine otherwise, Dell reserves the right to supply used or reconditioned parts or Products which are equivalent to new in functionality and appearance. Dell shall ensure that any Products or parts thereof used in replacement shall have substantially the same fittings and at least an equivalent specification to the faulty Products or parts thereof. Dell reserves the right to supply Products or parts thereof manufactured by whomsoever it shall, from time to time, deem appropriate.

3.3 The products or parts supplied to replace the Products shall become the property of the owner of the Products. The Products or any part or parts thereof removed shall become the property of Dell.

3.4 The warranty term for a spare part used in repairing Products ("Replacement Part") is 90 days from its installation in the Product or the remainder of the warranty term for the Product into which it is installed, whichever is longer. For the avoidance of doubt, the warranty term of a Product is not extended after its repair or replacement. Customer will pay Dell for a Replacement Part when the part replaced is not returned by Customer to Dell within 10 days after the date the Replacement Part was delivered to Customer by Dell. Prices of the part replaced will be at Dell's then current standard price in the Territory.

3.5 The provisions of this Agreement shall apply to all replacements of any part or parts of the Products made by Dell during the continuance of this Agreement.

Quote that link and tell them that though Dell reserves the right to give you a refurbished product, ask them to ensure that the FUNCTIONALITY is EQUIVALENT as well. Viewing angle of 178 degrees H/V.

Register a complaint with CORE. Its the fastest way to get things done.

well i had given a complaint to core against big tv stb issues and no results, all they do is forward ur complaint to big tv with extra words thats say knidly look into the matter, and thats it.till today they havent responded(big tv).

Hope this works out positively for the OP. Dell was quite high in my books for their warranties as per the experiences of quite a few ppl I know here on TE as well as elsewhere.

Btw, I do think that some are very extreme in lambasting Dell. I hope they realise that it's mostly the bad cases that get publicised. I don't think most ppl having had a good experience with Dell service advertise it.

@OP, please keep us updated on what's happening.

No friend, I have RMA-ed a Swift(S-IPS Panel) and DELL send me a Refurbished Maruthi-800 (Some TN Panel - thats too not new!). But I didn't accept that.

which are equivalent to new in functionality and appearance.

How the functionality of a TN Panel matches S-IPS?

ask them to ensure that the FUNCTIONALITY is EQUIVALENT as well. Viewing angle of 178 degrees H/V.

Yes, I have 178 Degree viewing Angle, Picture in Picture, USB Ports, S-Video, Composite, DVI & VGA Input.

I don't care, whether its a TN Panel or IPS Panel - Is there any DELL model available now which supports all the above functionalities?

well i have give a complaint to core against big tv and no results,

I too did it friend, but no reply yet now like DELL Managers.

Ultrasharp models come with the additional ports u've mentioned there. Not sure of P-in-P. But viewing angle is available ONLY in the IPS panels.

all i am trying to say is stick to ur point that Dell Replacement policy states something EQUIVALENT should be supplied. and that you want 178degree viewing angle.

^ +1... Once LG & Samsung move to IPS then only there would be competition enough for everyone to offer IPS models in India...

And after a long wait DELL has managed to deliver my replacement monitor(I hope its an IPS Panel) to a lucky fellow named: "YASHWAR MULLEK" - But the good joke is I dont know who is this guy and where he exists?

Friends, what to do now? Just called DELL and they are saying that your monitor is already delivered on 12-05-2009 and its received by YASHWAR MULLEK. But I didn't receive it and I dont know where is this guy in my home/address - Seems to be they have delivered to someone else at a different address - What a brilliant people!
