^^ Pretty much what Grim said here.

And yes, Titan Quest was a diablo copy but a good one at that with good graphics which still look good but pity that the developer went down(closed shortly after the expansion release). They have kickstarted a new game which I am currently following(called Grim Dawn) and which looks to be a good diablo clone with none of the diablo shortcomings (like no LAN, online all the time)

You guess? It was. Critics themselves said its too much like Diablo II.

I have played Titan Quest and it is the best Diablo clone created so far. Period. Torchlight comes close but a little too cartoonish for my taste(great game though and currently playing).

Any diablo fan worth his salt should get a copy of Titan Quest and try it out as it is pretty good and available for dirt cheap on the steam sales. The expansion is the one to play as it improved on the original. The game was critically bashed when it came out with all the diablo comparisons but went on to have a nice fan following much later.

I don't think i would give it a shot although i loved Diablo I & II both but still 6 years old game. Can't do it.

6 years old doesnt mean its a bad game!

Hell, even Half Life 2 is 7 years old but still a great game that you can play still!

You cannot compare Half Life 2 to this Titan Quest game mate. I ended the 1st Half Life just like 6 months ago. I loved it nevertheless. The game maybe good or even very good. So you get it that i am not saying its bad right? It's just that i can't play this game. Diablo is Diablo.

Hope you get it.

*Shrug*

Well, then get diablo 3!

When i said diablo is diablo i meant that i won't play another like of this game. Not that love this game and would do anything to play it and i don't want to pay 3.7k for the game unless i get some good reviews.

Titan Quest is a great ARPG and probably the best Diablo clone out there. If a game gets bashed for being too similar to Diablo, you gotta read the subtext - "This is a great game!"
Diablo is an very old franchise spanning over 16 years and played by a vast majority of players. The "hype" is more justified than any of the redundant shooter hypes of today's gamers. Here is a good backdrop of Diablo from IGN, for all the COD noobs who think gaming began with Modern Warfare 3

Get to Know Diablo - IGN
Amen.

Anyone who thinks D3 is overhyped was probably not a gamer back in the 90s. This might as well be the Third Coming as far are Gen-X gamers are concerned :p.
Too bad most post 2004 Gen-Y gamers can't see anything beyond a veil of realistic combat shooters all of which are more or less identical to each other.

Oh and D3 just broke the record for the most pre-ordered PC game in history beating WOW, SC2, GTA and COD :D.
That was Blizzard's iron boot on all modern misconceptions that there is no place for classic gameplay in today's graphics driven shooter intensive market.

^^ that's true.. Indeed Titan Quest is one of the best diablo clone out there and i enjoyed it too.. The new game GRIM DAWN is an upgraded version of TQ and the game looks awesome if they complete it (since they are bankrupt now)
but blizzards pushing the release date after announcing the game was really frustrating!! :bomb:

The big day is tomorrow! :)

Have never played a Diablo iteration before, as was the case with TES until I broke that one with Skyrim. Let's see how this fares. Looking forward to it.

Yes, we are nearly there! Evil is back! Err, Nearly!! :P

If TQ is that good. I'll try giving it a shot if i am unable to get hands on D3 due to some reason. :)
TQ was practically considered D3 by ARPG fans until Blizzard officially announced D3 in 2008.

And it improves a lot of things that D2 did quite badly.

Blizzard has acknowledged this by including several of TQ's innovative features into D3:
- A shared stash
- Respeccable skill setup
- Crafting

TQ still has a few tricks up its sleeve which even D3 does not.
TQ is the only ARPG out there that allows you to dual-class. So you get to learn 2 separate skill masteries per character.

I think there were a total of 7 masteries, and you could select any 2 per class. I will leave you do the math just how many actual classes that results into via all the permutations.
You could make a warrior mage if you wished, pretty neat stuff.

If you don't want to splurge on D3, then TQ is definitely the next best thing.

Just make sure you get the expansion pack too.
It's every bit a good expansion pack as Blizzard games tend to get which is something of a rarity in the gaming industry nowadays when expansions packs is just another word for DLC.

Just a correction. D3 became Amazon's most pre ordered PC game in history. beating the above listed games. Not sure about your statement as that is not mentioned anywhere.

Very important! Get the expansion pack and play the first game through it coz it has a lot more fixes and features.

an hour left for the launch. Need some good goddamn review from you guys. So that i, myself will join the diablo's :D *if it turns out great*

:bigok:
Really the selection of 2 masteries per class allowed to create a new type of character giving a lot of permutations

Diablo is out :fighting02:... but still w8ing for my copy it will take another 7-8 days :sad.gif_1:
