Diablo III - Discussion Thread

The game is region free. You can play on any region you want or whichever gives you the lowest pings.

Characters can't be transferred across regions but D2 was the same way so it's not a major issue.

I guess it's unreasonable to expect them to keep inter-continental servers in perfect sync with each other specially because it serves no purpose as (1)Diablo isn't an MMO and (2)has no monthly fee.

The game being region free is actually good news unlike other blizzard titles like Starcraft 2 which are locked to regions!

I only wish they had an offline mode and even make the offline character not playable online (to prevent hacks as they say) as a tradeoff!

Diablo 3 Will Not Support AMD’s Catalyst 12.4 Release

Diablo 3 is just days away from being released to the public, and many people including myself are waiting to pick it up. However, if you are using AMD’s latest Catalyst release It looks like you will have to roll back your drivers.

Omrakos, a ‘Support Forum Agent’ from the official Diablo 3 forums has revealed that Diablo 3 will not support the latest AMD Catalyst Drivers. If you continue reading the thread, which you can do here. It seems that users with the Catalyst 12.3 release are experiencing the same error, which says that the video driver is not compatible with the Diablo 3 Beta.

There is an easy fix this problem though, as many have found out that if you roll back your drivers to the Catalyst 12.2 release you will no longer see that error. To do this just follow this simple guide form Overclock, and use the drivers posted below. Make sure that you click the one that corresponds to your system.

Vista/Win7 64bit

Vista/Win7 32bit

XP 64bit

XP 32bit

Seriously?

WTF .... really that all i got WTF ... are they acutally a game development company or a bunch of elitist pr**ks. (pardon my french)

Actually i am pretty sure i am not going to buy this game. Its way overpriced for me so NO.

Also, after upgrading to 12.4 has it shown any good results?

Err, refer to this blue post on the diablo forums for more info.

We've recently become aware that playing Diablo III with the latest Catalyst 12.4 drivers for ATI cards may cause some visual artifacts for specific hardware configurations. This issue affects users of ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards under Windows Vista and Windows 7. ATI Radeon HD 4600, 4700, 4800, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series products are unaffected, as is Windows XP.

ATI is aware and investigating. Until a solution can be provided we recommend those affected use the Catalyst 12.3 drivers.

And regarding the overhype or not marketing itself, guys this is diablo3. Pre orders for the US market alone is 750k+ copies per vgchartz.

Ohh thanks for correcting it. I guess no harm in Updating then?

Funny that the guy who started this thread itself was last online like 7 years ago on 30th August 2005.
