@pretttt
I hope the email associated with the B.net account on which you registered D3 isn't the same as the one you gave to that Russian site. That's the only way you are vulnerable to brute force password attacks and having all your gear/gold stolen as your email address is also your username and that's half the data required for a brute force attack.

RMAH access is determined by your Home Region and your Home Region is determined when you launch the game for the very first time. It doesn't matter whether you have the US or EU version; as long as you are physically in India when you start D3 for the first time, your Home Region will be set to Americas (India falls under that).

Don't worry about the DRM, it's totally transparent as long as you have a stable Internet connection.
Blizzard side issues are limited to scheduled server maintenance. First week launch issues are ancient history now as with every big Blizzard launch (though that never stopped everyone on the Internet from crying out at once and will most certainly happen again when the expansion pack is released :P).

@Alias
Thanks for that sword :D.

Is the russian supplied one a US based key or EU based key? Depending on that the RMAH access is based. Regardless, 1700rs is an excellent price as I dont think there is gonna be a price drop for D3 anytime soon.

No idea about which region key it is, but when I registered with Blizz, the region shown was Global. Is there a region like that? The price is excellent, but I am seriously regretting it looking at saumil's post. It feels like too much risk.

Well, the bad news is that the email is same! I have the mobile authenticator attached to my account though. Is there still a chance of getting hacked? I have also set it to ask for authenticator for every login. I remember Blizzard saying none of the authenticator attached ids are hacked. But, I now feel I should not have bothered with this at all.

Well, the only good news is that, I was able to play a little bit yesterday and today morning with my witch doctor. Even got into multiplayer where some guys were playing the unicorn level. The download is only 8GB actually, and it lets you start playing once you reach 3GB.

D3 is a region-free game (hence why it says Global), US or EU version doesn't do anything except for a few localization changes. You can play on any of the 3 server regions, but your heroes and friend list will be separate for each.
The only restriction is that you won't be able to use the Real Money Auction House on servers other than your Home Region (Americas for India) because of international trade laws.
You can use the Gold Auction House of all regions.

The Real Money Auction House is for people who sometimes trade for extremely rare in-game gear using real money. People have been doing so since ages and have had to resort to the honor system where either party is liable to just disappear after one party hands over their side of the deal.
All Blizzard did in D3 is provide people with a safe platform where they can trade for gear using real money from within the game itself.

Your B.net email can be easily changed. Just change the email in your B.net account and the new email will promptly become your new username. Simple.

Anyway don't worry, the only reason I said you could be a potential target is because gear and gold in Blizzard games is generally considered high value commodity in the black market and on top of that you got it for half price. So I automatically assumed it was some shady email id farming corporation.
But it turns out the official release price for D3 in Russia is just 26 Euros, so that's the actual price :P.

Moreover you use the authenticator and it is true none of the accounts using authenticators were hacked. That is just a myth propagated by those who were hacked and then claimed they were using the authenticator to put the blame on Blizzard to force them into restoring their accounts (which Blizzard does anyway).
There's another myth out there that there's an exploit that lets people spoof session ids to take control of accounts. That one is false as well.

All hacks so far have been a result of end-user carelessness, weak passwords, keyloggers, etc. where account control was taken by actually entering the correct password for said accounts.

Well if you have the russian version, in what language is it for you? I see ppl on the net saying that the Ru version has no option for other languages and beware before purchase as that is a limitation put in by blizzard.

Ya i keep getting a mail from WoW MoP Beta asking me to register with the blizzard site for Warcraft beta testing which is an AMAZINGLY well made phishing mail. If not for me knowing blizzard i will have my password leaked. Sure a lot of noobs will be falling prey for that.

Fatefully, this was true only until June 7th after which Blizzard added the option to select a language when downloading the client from B.net.

Finally finished the game on Normal in 75 hours with a lvl-31 Barbarian. 400dps and 4600hp by the end without ever using the auction house.
I was taking it slow to explore everywhere, talk to everyone and enjoy the silly story. It's funny how Blizzard games feature the crappiest storylines coupled with best in industry cinematics (which are so well done that they are worth half the price of admission by themselves).

Time for Nightmare cooperative and the first glimpses of epic gear now... :D
Ask me for my BattleTag if anyone is interested, I play on the Americas server region.

:scared14: I thought I was the slow one. I did it in 31 hours. How did you even manage twice more than that? I explored every corner, listened to every dialogue, opened every crate etc. Were you playing naked or what? :P

Thanks for the very helpful post!

But, as mentioned below, now I have the Error 82 problem :) I guess I was so worried about hackers and all, I should have been more careful about Blizz. I guess, I should have just used common sense instead of trusting that Blizzard mod saying there was no language restriction. That idiot has simply edited the comment and put in a simple "sorry for the confusion!".

Anyway, there is a workaround for this currently. I tested this yesterday and I am still able to play in English. But, I dont want to risk it any more. I have created some support tickets asking Blizzard to remove the key from my account and then I will try to get a refund from the website where I bought the key. :/ Phew, I definitely did not need all this trouble.

Guess, I'll continue with Titan Quest(almost at the end. Seriously awesome game!) for now and wait for Torchlight 2 in the meanwhile. Managed to get two copies of TL2 +TL1 for $25 by trading on reddit. :) Hoping to play that on LAN with my brother!

^ Yeah, I am not sure what happened there. The language restrictions were supposed to be removed on 7th June. When you get the client from B.net, does it not ask you to select a language?

I manage my inventory. A lot :ashamed:.

No. When I bought and registered the game, it showed the English(US) client to me by default. But it also gave me choice to download other client if I wished. Some of the others who bought with me downloaded English(GB) client etc. This was according to what the Mod had posted on the forum. I installed the US client and played with until the next day night when everyone started getting the Error 82. Now, if I go to download page, it shows only Russian client there.

Actually, Blizzard knew perfectly well this was going to happen, but did not bother to correct the post before putting the language-lock in place. I found out yesterday that this exact same problem had happened during the original May release with Korean language client. Basically, one dude had created a support ticket and asked about the language restrictions in Korean keys and the Blizzard rep replied that there was no restriction other than RMAH. But, on release day, the language lock was very much in place. Unfortunately, because it was only one guy, that thread did not get too much publicity.

Actually, Blizzard's policy is pretty straight that local keys will play in local languages only, BUT they did a very bad job of informing this to their mods, who in turn just passed on wrong information to the customers. Only losers here are the customers though.

Finished Act 2 on nightmare. Basically doing a speed run on Coop as just breezed through the first 2 acts and currently with a lvl 44 barbarian!

I guess Frenzy is best especially if you want a dps barb.

@Alias
I do believe you use too many Fury spenders. I mean Sprint, really :P?

Hey any of you guys managed to sell anything on the RMAH yet? I was just going through the forums, to see if there any update on my issue, and I saw some people claiming that they sold items for $250 each? People are actually paying that much money for in-game items?!!

You really should check out sprint as it makes breezing through levels so easy! :)

I haven't put any items on RMAH yet. Still selling them for in game gold. :)

@pretttt
It's a very small percentage of players who spend that much money on game items. And even then it's very high level almost impossible to obtain stuff.

Alias
You use Sprint as a get into fights skill, while it's supposed to be a get out of tough spots skill (hence why it's listed as a Defensive skill). Even for that purpose I think Leap and Furious Charge are better.
Spending precious Fury simply to get someplace faster stands very low on the diminishing returns ladder. Also in a coop game people are expected to stick together :P.

Although once PvP goes live, I expect Sprint will start to shine as it will allow you to chase down squirrelly Wizards and Demon Hunters or when they cast slowdown spells on you.

Nice PvP video with commentary:

Well, tbh i was overpowered when i was playing with you last night as I was at a higher level. So it didnt matter much as I didnt need the extra defensive from that spell binding.

Yesterday after you left, i was playing coop with a wizard lvl 51 in Act 3 Nightmare.
Sigh, he just demolished the waves as if they were just paper. Good grief, seriously ranged is so OP and he had like near 5k damage while my lvl 48 barb barely reaches 2k damage. Include his spells and he just breezes through as if just running through the levels. I finished about 90 percent of Act 3 under an hour with him. Most of the time the creeps dont even get near me as they just get vaporized/or explode with his spells

Hey anyone of you able to access the Real Money Auction House? Whenever I try to set the currency from Options it says no currency available.

^ You play on Asia right? You can only use the RMAH in your Home Region which for India is Americas.

Also, the RMAH is going through the same stress management that the game did at launch where they slowly open the floodgates instead of letting everyone in at the same time.
It will appear to randomly go on and off depending on when you sign in. Sometimes it may even let you in when you log in/log out a few times.

Yes, am an Asian monk. So if I want the moolah I need to create a character in the US Server? Lame. Just started to get my hands dirty on the Gold Auction House. Even mediocre items fetch a very good price, crazy people out there.

after the RMAH was implemented the game sucks big time, cause the delay has increased!!
previously there was no delay at all..
