I need a PCI-e card. Actually, I am already stretching my budget even to get a 6600 so a 6600GT seems out of the question. It seems that a 6600 will play most of the games that I want to play satisfactorily.
I think it should also be good enough to play games like FIFA World Cup 2006, cricket 2006 when they r released.
For AOE3 and future games like LOTR: Battle 4 Middle Earth 4, Caesar4, Simcity 5 etc., I have a sinking feeling that even 6600GT will also not be enough to play these games so I am better off buying 6600 now and a much more powerful card 18-24 months later.
I called up the shop selling Asus 6600 pci-e card and they told me that they have Asus extreme N6600(256MB, DDR3) for Rs. 6900. I don't really trust these dealers to have a good knowledge of the cards specifications so I'll beleive it only when I see the box. So should I go for this card? Any issues with Asus pci-e cards? Everyone seems to be getting only XFX cards.
I'll be upgrading to:
Athlon64 3000+ (Venice core)
Asus A8N-E
512 MB DDR (Kingston) (I'll add an additional 512 MB after a few months)
Seagate 200 GB SATA
BenQ DW-1640
450W mercury psu (please don't ask me to get a better one as there isn't any in my city)
iball Benz ATX cabinet
From my old system:
17" LG Flatron
Creative Audigy2 ZS
Thx. guys for all ur help. I really appreciate it. Btw, Rashi peripherals website quoted the price of XFX GeForce 7800 GTX as 58,950/-. The same card seems to cost around $500 on Amazon. How come we Indians have to pay such a high price. We r not as rich as americans. Infact, we should be paying less.
