But first, they should sign an undertaking (they claim that they believe they are Indians) that they are Indians, they support India's claim over Kashmir, that they are against terrorist violence etc etc. Also, they should renounce citizenship of all other countries....

the way they are,,, they will sign it and then after completing the degree go and join osama and come and hit us.. who will take their undertaking at face value

Also, while we are getting them to sign stuff, do you think we can get them to sign the HRD minister's death warrant?

hahah.. that can be tht of :P

there is another suggestion..all the OBC docs who get thru in good medical colleges via reservations shud be made to put up the "quota student" under his/her name next to the "MBBS" degree..:@ :@

WHy cant the govt think of 'uplifting' the backward castes by providing them strong fundamental education - providing primary/secondary schools with good, intelligent, intellectual teachers?

wat next? quota in Software companies?
Well thats the point.. why should they do something which will take years to implement and not to mention a strong resolve and determination.. why not just do something that will give them instant recognition with their aimed voter base at absolutely no effort.. isnt that what politics is all about.

Well thats exactly what they are doing, and no party is opposing this because noone wants to loose 80% of the Indian Votes.
Sad but noone will do anything about this.

As far as reservations in the private sectors goes, i dont see that happening. WTF is government gona do? shut down companies which dont agree even if its made law? Hell thats the backbone of our economy. They cant do jack about the decision of private companies if they decide not to have reservations in provate sector.
The funny thing to me is how these politicians make fool of themselves trying to make statements regarding this to the press. I cant resist laughing. When that lady minister talked about the bill of reservation in provate sector i was actiually laughing hard at the way she said that statement.
What is the govt gona do? shut down bajaj industries or Infosys or wipro???

di ne one see hardtalk y day on bbc world???

rahul bajaj was there opposing reservations and the rep was telling thats good fr low backward oppresed classes.

the english press thinks its a win fr democracy,WTF,

DAMN THE BRITISH.

THat is just about the worst news i've heard all year. I've taken a lot this year....not qualifying for IIT:( ....falling sick for 2 straight months:( ...god knows wut else...and now this. Who the hell do they think they're trying to benefit?? The OBC Students?? how do they even think that they'll be able to come anywhere near to the standard of the top rated institues like IIT IIM etc without thier basics being clear....Wut do they expect the teachers to do take extra classes just to teach the students how to keep up with the rest:huh: :S :S This is simply put the stupidest desicion in the whole history of education in India.:@ :@ :@

As for the supporters i've a word to say to them. If they think that getting into these colleges is the solution to thier problems you can think again. IIT's and IIM's and all are not for the people who don't have a strong foundation to thier knowledge and if they think that they can acquire that knowledge when they reach the colleges....well i doubt the teachers have time to teach the normal things that they have too...they're setting new standards not admitting people who can't keep up to the already set ones. If you want to compete properly then ask for facilities in schools and in coachings and all like another guy here said. You can't hope to live up to the expectations of the teachers in these colleges unless you're good enough in what you've already learned. And if you're good enough you don't need the stupid reservation anywyz.

AS a proof i think all of you should check the merit lists of the JEE and CAT exams of the previous years. Out of the 23% students who got reservation in The institues no more then 100 were under the general merit list marks.:@ :@ :@ : I can rant of a lot more and i've a lot more to say ike many others but all i can say is i doubt any self respecting person would like to be billed under the fact that he's a RESERVED person:S for the rest of his life. And i've many friends who're ST/SC/OBC who're completely against this. They want equality and education - proper education from the start not by taking others seats:clap:  :hap2: . They're some of the people who'll make the future of the country because they believe that merit matters and not where you're from and what caste you belong.

As for the govt and its facts i think anyone who saw Devils Advocate:clap: on IBN...if you didn't i think its avalible on thier website...this week whenMr. know it all Educated education minister of India Arjun Singh was interviewed you'll know all the govt. knows about education is a complete load of ****. He gave the interview like a 12 year old kid

well no company will pack up and go for 25% reservation. they still have a huge market in india.. even bigger with more people getting rich that way. it won't be such a big thing to implement anyway. its a matter of when they want to do

if u cant go abroad, smhow try n get a SC/ST or OBC certificate

well it exist..when i cleared 12th..1 of my classmate was happy with 40% as he got obc certificate via court..and he wasnt an obc.......he was happy he will get admission wherever he wants.......and knew he will get the certificate..and was busy flirting throughout the year.........

also no party will oppose reservation........vote bank politics.......

regarding pvt sector...infosys has started training obc students.......they know if they have to survive here they have to giv seats...btw.....do u ppl think infosys, tcs will keep ppl frm reservation when they r found uncompetable??????i guess no company willing to pay 50k+to ppl who
cant even will complete there jobs(who score 40% and get lucrative job)
btw i really pity the medical scenario..........also when somone will say write obc status in degress....u will hear huge cry....discrimination....ppl trying to divide india........but they forgot the way they gave seats ..discriminated the gerneral public of there rights........

btw i pray whole india population must come under caste category...and then c..we will c fights btw sc/st and obc for reservation with one another too.........general public cant survive here

No you see, they know that they cannot force companies to do it. However,

1. They will give Tax breaks to companies which adopt the reservation policy. Once you get a monetary break for adopting this policy, you can definitely find private companies who will adopt this.
2. This is the government we are talking about. THere will definitely be pressure. on companies to adopt this in the name of social justice.

Not saying this is gonna happen, but it is definitely gonna be tried for. Never had news which depressed me more...

ahh.... good news finally.. i think i shall go ahead and stop preparing for cat... better prepare a OBC certificate... would be much much better.. thanks to our ministers!!

cheers!!

I disagree with that statement. Getting in does not imply getting out. They'd still have to study, get appropriate marks and intern in a good place to get ahead. We might have a socialist education but it's a capitalist market. At the most, the government hospitals might have a quota for admitting newly qualified doctors. But that's about it. I'm sure as hell private hospitals are going to be all the more choosy when recruiting doctors now.

One things certain, a lot of seats are gonna go waste and vacant. The overall quality of the output of colleges will be effected a lot.

I still think that all reservation should be done away with and serious aptitude tests be put in place.
A person with no aptitude for a certain subject/course shouldnt be entertained in top colleges/uni

Has the bill for the same been passed yet??

I reckon somebody will move to Supreme sourt over this and this May take some more time to implement.

I hope it takes a couple of years,ATLEAST...

thats exactly why in 2 years there has to be a demand for a quota in pvt sector also.

its all too plain. once they get the degree and then get no good jobs(high paying) they are again going to cry and then we will have quotas in pvt job sector also.

btw i will have to say the aptitude tests are also loads of crap. solving puzzles doesn't test anything.

well since the constitution has been ammended the courts can't do anything and no MP is even gonna think of blocking this.

Relax guys!

At 27%, this really shouldn't have as much of an impact as may seem at first glance....

Assuming Karan Thapar's stats on OBCs currntly occupying ~23% seats in seats of higher learning is factually correct, a reservation that cover 4% addl seats shouldn't really have much of a tangible impact.....

WHat I find pissing off in this whole sordid affair is the fact that though affirmative action could actually be good if handled and executed in the right spirit; the way our politicians handle it (as a rather obvious political ploy be it powerplay/garnering vote bank(s)) is what makes this whole affair ugly!
