UT your take on caste system is warped to say the least, you want exactly diametrically opposite of the situation today, whereas most of us want neutrality. Let the backward caste compete fairly give them support at grass root levels, but making him a doctor just cause he is backward class is BS.

And all those who expect he capital mkts to bounce back in the long run, if reservations come in pvt sector. Goodbye to india, Congress party I have to agree is the most hopeless, corrupt, selfish, vote bank seeking party in the country. Only a congress party can give bangladeshi immigrants citizenship so more vote bank, you have to see what these guys have done to mumbai into making it one of the biggest slum areas in the world.

And its so sad the so called minority community just believes the party so blindly.

BTW the reservation in MBBS is the worst hit, they will just have 30% odd seats for general category. You should have seen the police hitting innocent female protestors near my place and putting them under house arrest for protesting...

Goddammit there should be nationwide protest by all students not just doctors, mgmt and engineering students are hit as well why are we just lying back !!!
 
now i dont have a problem if the guy was economically backward... but its painful to know that a guy a hundred ranks away has been called for counselling whereas i am still stuck goin nowhere... caste in itself doesnt make sense... the 21st century is on a different plane.. all the cast crap should be RESERVED for people who think they live in the 15th century or someting...and to know that this stuff is going to continue on a higher scale .. makes it suck all the more.. what a system

100 years back counless people of backward castes felt the same when morons from upper castes who were fit for nothing went on to become kings and occupy top jobs just cos they were of "upper caste" and talented people were left behind.

true 100 year old wrongs can't be corrected now, but if some amount of affirmative action is shown towards such people its no harm. you as an individual might feel cheated but there is no other way also to bring those people in mainstream

having said that i donot support the action in pg courses. at those level merit alone should count. no one wants to go to a doc who studied 60% of the syllabus and barely passed.

i believe it should be crystal clear to everyone here that this is a public forum. As a educated person(i hope all of you are if you are on this forum) you are expected to know what to say and how to say it in public. Everyone gets angry but if you can't control yourself well you need to be forcefully controlled.
I am keeping thread open for constructive talk but if i see ut like postings or some lame support postings, you are either gonna get some forced cooling yourself and the thread is going to trash can[/admin]

i think it stands at 60% something.. although this says 32,,(doubt it) South Asian Media Net

well btw are the seats fixed or the merit guys can take the open seats also? eg obc with better ranks take open seat like everyone else. if thats not allowed then it would hardly have any impact as 23% are anyway coming in even now.

Well the problem worsens for guys like me, cause I was aiming at a college like NIT / BITS, but due to IIT reservations, lot of the IIT guys gonna spill into these colleges, and A-Grade stuff looks so bleak now...:(

On the contrary, u can remove the ban and I'll excercise 'restraint' to some extent.

Whats the news on the Maharashtra stand on this?
Coz it was already implemented in Maharashtra...is this decision being recalled or what?
 
its already implemented in maharashtra i guess.

the resolution is for central gov funded colleges.
 
What about Govt Colleges in Mumbai...I sure do hope they recall the 50% crap...
Its totally useless. A 35% reservation is still overkill but 50% is totall uncalled for.
