CPU/Mobo [DISCUSSION] AMD 4700S Desktop Kit

I kept the larger holes so you can reuse the screws from the orginal bracket, this way you'd still get the same clamping force. You can use a countersunk screw from under the LGA holes to secure the LGA cooler with their holes

Here's the link for the adapter with M2.5 sized hole (Its 2.6mm in diameter to make life a bit easier)

Hey, could you just tell what is the recommended thickness of that laser cut adapter?

Should I get a 3mm thick piece of metal / acrylic or maybe get like 4-6mm one?

I got mine made with 2mm stainless steel, that's what the stock heatsink has. There's a photo in a previous post in this thread.

Thank you for the answer - I also did some backtracking and found the note about 2mm too, so sorry for bothering at first place :)
Hmm... might be hard for me to find someone who could cut me off acrylic or steel… Maybe a 3d print with 100% infill will work

Funny thing that first i went here just to share my small version of 3d printed adapter for 120mm fan (with the air tunnel)
https://www.printables.com/model/964895-amd-4700s-desktop-kit-cooler-120mm-fan-adapter/comments

and it ended up with me finishing this bloody goldmine of a thread

Hey, small question

I do know there is this "official supported GPU" list which is full of bollocks
but I came to the weird issue and maybe anyone of you had similar problem while testing your 4700S desktop kit.

So I got 2 cards, Intel Arc A770 and GTX 1080.
Since Arc A770 is my daily card for months, I wanted to put my good old 1080 to the mix with 4700S to finish building a small PC for my fiancée.

No matter what i try i cannot get any video output while using the 1080, but i am having no problem with A770
IMG_9175.jpg

Even my Quadro P620 have no problem getting signal out while paired with 4700S.

Just to be sure, I did test that 1080 inside my daily rig (white case on the side of the photo) and I had no issue getting video signal out even without drivers.

When i was installing the fresh system on the SSD, I had the bios on the C08 version and the boot mode was set to UEFI

I updated the bios now to C0A - not sure why but trying to flash C0A_modded just does not want to work, just shuts down - yet the issue is still there.

have anyone of you came to the similar problem with pascal or any other specific model of a GPU?

Use GOPupd and update the VBIOS of your card, it should work afterwards
Thanks for the noew - will have to check it later but from a first point of view i am scared i will **** up something haha XD

Oh well - we will see later this weekend :)

THANKS for the note!

Ok, small update, did what was written over that guide and i can confirm it all worked.

Thank you again @SunnyBoi !!

If you guys don't mind asking just one thing.
I checked the whole topic earlier and downloaded all bios files you managed to archive, but also the C0A modded one. But it seems the file is corrupted (at least i am that unlucky). When o open the afuflash, it just tells me to "press a button to close"

Is there a chance for someone to re-upload that version? Thank you to anyone in advance.

There isnt many useful options on the unlocked BIOS so flashing it isnt useful. It did have an option to not use UEFI cards on boot, but that never worked.

GOPupd inserts the UEFI option inside the VBIOS of older cards making them work with the 4700S, this is a much better fix to the issue.

So you say just stay with official C0A and no point of doing something else?

Ok, thanks for the heads-up!

In that case, I am just waiting for the laser cut part, so I can try attaching Wraith Prism onto it :D

Ok one more silly question.
i understand that SYS_FAN header is just configured so bad that it either leave fans not spinning at all or spinning them at very small speed if using 4pin connectors right?

cuz i tried to connect 2x 80mm fans onto it and those did not worked at all - had to connect them via PST connector to the CPU_FAN header while leaving only 3pin fan for the sys_fan connector

Yes. I switched to quieter Noctua 80mm and they won't run. I enable it via speed fan.

Small update from me - received the laser cut part based on your file. Amazing thing.

I took off the spring-screws out of the original 4700S cooler. I used nail clippers to push those OUT of the screw and used the nail file to push those back inside when i was mounting on this bracket (my fiancée now hates me xD)

Instead of mounting a tower cooler for now, i decided to go a bit weird road... i 3d printed the "AM4 → LGA 115X" adapter and i am planning to put Wraith Prism on that chip.

Curious how it will work. But for sure will work better than the OG 4700S cooler

You'll run into issues for the mounting height, it may be too much or too less. You'll need to play with the STL of the 115x to AM4 adapter to get it right.

Also since the 4700 does not have an IHS, you'll have to be really careful not to damage the silicon. Thats a big drawbackw with clip style mounted heatsinks.

Yea, I noticed that when I looked at it - a bit silly me to forgot about such a crucial data...
Tho I used your adapter with an Endorfy Fera 5 Dual and I can say that creation of this community (that adapter bracket) fits like a damn glove

IMG_9266.jpg

Already did the test runs with both single and 2 fans attached to it - Cinebench all core 10 minute stress test
running just single fan, dropped the temperatures (vs. og 4700s cooler with 120mm fan adapter) by around 20 degree... from max 95-96 to 77, and increased the cinebench score by average 600 points (from 9060 to 9666)

IMG_9269.jpg

IMG_9271.jpg

Placing second fan dropped temperature from max 77 to around 74-75, but gave no difference in the CPU score. Yet still it fixed all the problems… The cpu runs quieter, cooler and better.
Still, I am just stunned how much that project of yours helped with that little board, I am really grateful to everyone that contributed for that.

I am in the pre-planning on trying to get AMD 4800S Desktop Kit from Taobao, if that will be done, I will for sure get second laser cut for that board too :D

Rotate the heatsink 90*, only 2 heatpipes are making contact with the die. You should get better temps with all of them. Thats a drawback of using direct heatpipe coolers without IHS

Will try it - but not sure if that will change anything, because as you can see on the photo, it is technically "flatten"

G90mayo0.jpg

** UPDATE **

Yea, just as I was worried - same temps @SunnyBoi, no difference if I rotated the cooler

So i guess only thing left is just to get Noctua fans for this small case (1x 200m, 2x 120mm and 2x 80mm) and just live with that :D

Hi there! As I'm following this thread now for weeks, after getting a 4700s system instead of an i3 11th gen which I've ordered, I finally had to register here to get into the discussion.
First I was going to return the system but figuring out it has the console cpu from AMD I've kept it, once out of curiosity and twice because I like to mod my computers. I´ve replaced the stock fan with a Noctua to silent it down but reading about the temps it wouldn't let me go to put an AIO liquid cooling on the board to get some improvement.
I was going to abandon this idea but got a good occasion on an ENERMAX AQUAFUSION Snow Edition (ELC-AQF240-SQA-W) cooler , which now waits to be fitted not only onto the socket but also into the Mini-ITX Fractal Design Node 202 case. Unless I figure out an optimal position for the radiator, the last word wasn't spoken, as the case height is 80 mm and the radiator's 120mm. I´m not getting more into the details, like per supply etc. but have a certain question to you:
I'm going to try a similar cpu bracket design to put the cooling block on the cpu but could't figure out the bracket's dimensions from the .dxf file. As a pdf it either is a full A4 format or at 50% something - something. I will do the measurements myself but wanted first to figure out if I can use at least partially the cooler included mounting material.
Thanks in advance! Hope to hear from you soon ans success!!!

Hey, why do you need specific dimensions from .dxf files? Those got already all dimensions inside the file.
You just need to order laser cut based on this file, and simply use it :) → 2mm thick stainless steel is recommended.

You should not 3d print that adapter, it won't be strong enough.

I ordered mine, waited 2 weeks for it (but that based on the place where i ordered it), then swapped the eclips and spring screws from the 4700s cooler onto the adapter, and then just mounted the cooler to that adapter

Tbh. I´d first have to figure out where to order the laser cut and have no idea on the costs or availability.
Meanwhile I was thinking of getting some 2mm alloy sheet and work it out.
