CPU/Mobo [DISCUSSION] AMD 4700S Desktop Kit

As long as they are providing bill to cover full warranty and there is no physical damage or working issue with the product then there should be no problem taking these, however one can build a much more powerfull combo with more storage and other options by adding a few k's.

I doubt you will get warranty for these oem units.

So you are saying that these are illegally being sold as retail ? I see many retailers stocking it.
I don't know if they are illegal best to ask prime if that's the case..all i know is they and a lot of retailers have sold this kit along with lot OEM only chips with proper warranty by amd. Best to ask them directly on what's the angle with these products.

Hi Guys,

I did manage to get a board from Primeabgb. It runs fine on my RX480 and yes the RAM latency is high but it games just fine in the games that I played.

It runs great although the fan profile is very relaxed and then ramps up like a jet! It reguarly hits close to 100 degrees. Seems fine with temps even though my room is already a furnace at the moment, lol

NB - I had AMD cool and quiet enabled in the BIOS for all these tests. It supposed to make the CPU run cooler so it should bench higher with that option turned off.

You are using old BIOS.
Update to latest BIOS on amd.com or try a modded BIOS with unlocked features.

Here's the link for the modded BIOS with more options. If anyone got it, give it a try and report back. If I get it first, I'll do so.

There is an option to enable SVM with the unlocked BIOS.

Can you post a photo of the BIOS from the boot page? Also which version of the BIOS is it on currently?

It came with BIOS version C04. I have not updated it yet, I wanted to complete my testing with this BIOS.

There is a known issue with this BIOS that when you plugin a USB device the system can randomly reboot. That only happened once so far when I plugged in a Wifi adapter.

I want to upgrade to the latest C0A but not sure if I should at the moment. Will let someone on here test it out first. :p

The options are very limited in the BIOS. I would really love to drop Vcore and get lower temps.
If there was a way to configure timing for the RAM that could bring down latency but I doubt that will be possible with this BIOS.

Problem that system starts automatically when you press any key on the mouse or keyboard is an error that exists on all BIOS.
Only way to fix it is to uncheck "Turn on fast startup" under "Change what the power buttons do" setting

make sure you update in incremental steps, C04 to C07, c08, c09 and then c0A. Someone updated from C04 to C0A and it didnt boot

Try enabling SVM mode in BIOS and check in CPUz if virtualisation has been enabled. Some folks here were asking for it

Here are the BIOSes from C06 till C0A. These are original BIOS and not modded. Once you get to C0A, try flashing the modded ones.

I already have a collection of various 4700S Bioses. WIll upgrade only if I need to or it brings a significant performance increase or a decrease in temps etc.
For now I am fine with C04. The latest C0A says "Potential vulnerabilities fixes" so I am worried about performance loss with that version.

It's great that the board has a SPi flash port so should be easier to recover from a bad flash. [JSPI]

Thanks for sharing, what temps are you seeing in games, potentially CPU heavy titles like - CP, Apex possible?

It 44 degrees here in UP and there is no AC in my room. Temps are bad in general.:sweatsmile: (If you have an AC in you room im sure you would see better temps than mines)

I dont play those game but ran DS3 at a locked 60fps with no issue. Temps were around 82-84 degrees. Even my GPU is running hot its usually well below 70 and sits around 65 degrees in normal weather around 30-35 degrees ambient. The fan profile seems similar to the ones you find on a Laptop. It just runs hot by design. Vcore looks to be 1.331V I hope and not 1.550V!

Just a quick update for those who buy this desktop kit and want to game with it. Its better to upgrade from C04 has the windows power plans dont work and the CPU runs much hotter even ST loads.
Upgraded to C06 then C07. Seeing a good decrease in both GPU and CPU temps.

Another update with C09 BIOS. Huge differnces in temps compared to C04.

seems like the Vcore is dropped from 1.331V to 0.862V! that's 31% drop in voltages.

Infact, with each of ur screenshots the higher the bios the lower the Vcore!

1.331 -> 1.313 -> 0.862

Do you feel any difference in day to day system usage and multitasking?
Is it really slow?
Its actually really fast in everything. All windows tasks, browsing and games. For the price of 10K rupees it is definitely well worth the price.

Yes with BIOS C04 the windows power plans were not working with the later BIOS versions it works properly hence lower Vcore etc.

In windows daily use there is no difference between this and my 5600X that I could notice.
