CPU/Mobo [DISCUSSION] AMD 4700S Desktop Kit

It 44 degrees here in UP and there is no AC in my room. Temps are bad in general.:sweatsmile: (If you have an AC in you room im sure you would see better temps than mines)

I dont play those game but ran DS3 at a locked 60fps with no issue. Temps were around 82-84 degrees. Even my GPU is running hot its usually well below 70 and sits around 65 degrees in normal weather around 30-35 degrees ambient. The fan profile seems similar to the ones you find on a Laptop. It just runs hot by design. Vcore looks to be 1.331V I hope and not 1.550V!

Just a quick update for those who buy this desktop kit and want to game with it. Its better to upgrade from C04 has the windows power plans dont work and the CPU runs much hotter even ST loads.
Upgraded to C06 then C07. Seeing a good decrease in both GPU and CPU temps.

Another update with C09 BIOS. Huge differnces in temps compared to C04.

This is great data, thanks a ton. Temps dropped significantly.

Is it possible to increase the PCIE 2.0 X 4 limit on this board with a modded BIOS ? Both AIDA64 and CPU-Z say 3.0 X 16 is supported. Not sure if that is true or if that is the max the board can support.

Its actually really fast in everything. All windows tasks, browsing and games. For the price of 10K rupees it is definitely well worth the price.

Yes with BIOS C04 the windows power plans were not working with the later BIOS versions it works properly hence lower Vcore etc.

In windows daily use there is no difference between this and my 5600X that I could notice.
I am so glad to know that. Seems like tomshardware was overly negative for this combo. They really made a huge deal for the latency. Glad that it is not the case with daily usage.
But, Now I have to arrange for a GPU to go with it. Have to look for deals in used market.

Have you already placed an order for one kit? Looks like its sold out on Primeabgb. Not sure of other retailers will drop their prices soon, definitely not worth +/-30K Rupees.

There are no spare PCIE lanes available.
Got my R9 270X working with the 4700S. Tomorrow will get my ancient HD6870 working with it as well.

With this done, I no longer have to use any modded BIOS. Yay!

Had you used modded bios ?

Had you used modded bios ?
No. What you see is the first boot of my 4700S kit with the default C04 BIOS that came with the board.

What I meant to say is - I can pretty much get any HD6000+ series AMD cards working on the 4700S. I no longer need the option to turn on Legacy/CSM using a modded BIOS thus I dont need to flash any modded BIOS.

What do you intend to use this kit for? Dont you want lower temps with the newer bios?

Would a rx 6500xt work with it? And can I get 120hz desktop through hdmi 2.1 on it.

Why do you need a 120Hz desktop sire?

@The_King how did you update the bios, in steps as someone suggested?

Yes. Placed on 30 may. Will be receiving it today or tomorrow.
It is definitely not worth 30k.30k can get a lot better machine than this gimped one.
Only bought it because of the price.

I'll be updating to the latest C0A BIOS anyway. Infact I'll try the modded BIOS anyway to see what more options I can unlock anyway.

Next up, fitting a Thermalright XP90 to lower temps even further

The update order I used from the C04 was C06>07>08>09.

With BIOS update C07 the ROM layout changes I had to select option "e" [read the BIOS FLASH GUIDE.pdf]

From what I read on TH review the cooler cant be changed has the CPU does not have an standard IHS, the current cooler has an extra piece that makes contact with the CPU also the mounting holes are not standard. If you do manage to get something to work. Please share how you did it.

The best way to lower temps is to update the BIOS and use windows Power plans like how you would on a laptop to reduce temps.
