There are already quiet a few Mobile Number Portability (MNP) Threads on TE... :P

MNP has a lot of hype around it but I just need to know why people need MNP so badly.

Here are the questions:

1) Who is your current Service Provider?

2) Do you feel the need to switch to some other Service Provider?

3) If Yes, Why?

4) Who will be the Service Provider you'll switch to?

1.Airtel
2.No
3.N/A
4.N/A

BTW a suggestion, Add an extra question 5.Using 'Current Operator Since ____' as this would be major factor as MNP for subscribers having their current operator since long time & need to change their operators for better services/rates etc, people who change their operators frequently for better talktime or FRC values wont have much effect of MNP

1 - Docomo
2 - Yes
3 - No 3g in Mumbai, bad EDGE connectivity, bad account management options for addons etc, poor network in some areas
4 - Reliance GSM

one question from my side... will MNP be also helpful in changing bangalore airtel number to chennai without changing number....???

other than that i dont have any reason for changing mobile service provider..

1.Airtel

2. Yes

3.Region change

4.Airtel

Really? That's gonna be interesting then. Though I doubt MTNL infrastructure to be as good as Reliance. You guys getting 1.5 megs down, that's insane. :P

that would be better then because MTNL will have to improve their infrastructure automatically. because i am getting MTNL3G free as it is. (their fault)

3. Horrible rate plan + crappy GPRS

4. BSNL. 3G, 'nuff said.

1. Tata Indicom

2. Yes

3. Horrible rate plan + shitty phones + no data

4. MTNL 3G (already getting awesome speeds in my lead-up field tests on secondary number)
