Industry wise I think Modi has done wonders for Gujarat, at least from what I hear.

But he's split the state in some ways too. But I guess he's among the better CMs in the country. I preferred Jayalalitha in TN for some strange reason. Maybe because she was partly responsible for bringing so many auto companies to TN.

she is a very good in getting things done and is highly result oriented like modi. . . .Difference is that her hardline stand on many events gave her a bad image while modi for his hardline stand got more support and more coverage for his good points

As Myth Pharaoh put it, I dont regret being an Indian, but regret living in the present India.

The vicious circle of poverty and over population, will keep pulling India back no matter what happens. the only solution, mass sterilization, if we can do it to dogs why not humans, 70% of them are living dog's life anyways..

That seems to be a fantastic solution, which no one will forcibly take. :)
But now some couples i have seen having mindset similar to this.

Well reading the posts above you can get the current situation in India....

We are so freaking divided in our views, religious beliefs and conflicts that I feel we don't have a single country anymore....

Mixing politics and religion with everything else is pure BS.....

And regret to say that I do "Regret to be an Indian now". :(

Are you saying you think the next 10 years will be worse than the last 10 ?

In addition why not ask that same question of one's parents & elders ?

Would be interesting to see how the perspective has changed (if at all).

I can say it was more regrettable to be an Indian in the past than it is today.

I am proud to be an Indian and yes Im proud to live in India.

But there are certain things that make me wish I was born elsewhere occasionally.

1. Corrupt politicians & cops
2. Flamboyant spending Capitalists
3. The failure to eradicate poverty
4. The greed of the masses
5. Unhygienic educated elite
6. Unhygienic illiterate masses
7. Pseudo-Intellectuals who just mouth off [may be including me & some of us here]
and last but not the least
8. Barkha Dutt ;)

It's very easy to blame all the politicians for all evils and picturing ourselves as victims who did not have the power to stop them. But lets look at our neighbours who have attained freedom more or less at the same time. They are floundering with their failure to live up to their promises. Even though we are no better, we are still showing a lot of promise. This would not have been possible without politicians. What we need now is a leader instead of a politician.

But change doesn't come easily and it should start within each and every one of us. Before we can stand up and say I hate to be an Indian and I don't like to be in India, do we really care on what we do to make it better instead of complaining and whining about it all the time.

To quote Robert Frost "I have Miles to go before I sleep" should be the Mantra of everyone of us. Mediocrity has become an acceptable standard, because we never fought against it. Let's for a change try to fight mediocrity and strive for excellence in making our country the best there is.

Modi is not the answer to all of India's problems, neither we can ignore leaders like him. But high-handedness and excellence does not go hand in hand.

For a change all of us in Techenclave should try and vote this coming election. That would be the first step. As the OP has pointed out, if the white collar comes out and starts controlling the vote bank, I'm pretty sure we can change the course our country has headed.

Do you regret to be an Indian: Yes, at least for the hardware pricing here. :(

No otherwise. I dont belong to the brain-drain culture. :P

Naah.I don't regret at at being an Indian.

India is great.....Living in India is great..........................just the broadband prices are ****ed up !! :P :P :P :P

But i guess that will improve.Look at mobile phones....they are the cheapest in India because of very high penetration............same thing will happen in BB when the time is right..........

BTW sorry for going OT:::India is a great country............It needs a firm party....the BJP precisely......It doesn't need the Congress which should have been dissolved after 1947............And it need the BJP to be in power singly at the Center and not in a coalition which restricts them like last time...........

No regrets at all.. No place on earth is perfect. Corrupt politicians, poverty and hunger, rape and murder, everything is common to every country in the world. I would love to see India as a well-developed, well-maintained and well-educated country, but I know it'll take a very long time for that.. probably it'll never happen in my lifetime. That doesn't mean I hate this country or the people here.. Of course, when it comes to people like Kasab and Muthalik, its a diff story altogether.. I hate them, and would be happy if they were hung in public.
In short, I do NOT regret being an Indian or being in India right now..

Living in a country which despite having sufficient geographic conditions to use tidal energy, resorts to power cuts to tackle the energy crisis. Regret? Yep.

Would be a lovely place if there was not as much corruption, though. Sad to see the one directional flow of wealth and failure to use the available human resources. Rich remain rich and poor remain poor. A day when this country has leaders who would care and act to uplift it is imaginary as of now.

BULLSHIT!!!

Thats what I would call you all lamers...

How many times have you seen a Blind Man on the street & helped him cross the street.

You dont blame the polititions for everything.

You are to be blamed..

All I ask you to go and vote this time.

Maybe there is no candidate that suits your Moto/Understandings/Views CURRENTLY.

But atleast take a effort to go and vote.

Maybe next time there will be someone who shares your attitude/views and will come up with some agenda who suits your views...

Down with Broadband Rates/Downwards Prices for Computer Hardware

Free PO*N Channels.....

AAAH!! That party will surely get your vote aint it????
