Is this the correct file version "9-2_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_75974"

catch 9.2 discussion on forums here

AMD Game Forums - ATI Catalyst [Guys dont rush read here]

There seem to be too many issues with 9.2 :(

Is 9.1 stable? Me still on 8.12 I think :ashamed:

i am still on 9.1. i can confirm thats it's very much stable.

no idea about 9.2 wont install till users start confirming its stable and better than 9.1.

9.2 seems to have issues according to link posted by quad master.:)

so guys i suggest you to stay on 9.1.

I need some help in deciding which Drivers to use - the ATI released drivers or these from Palit which are mentioned as Radeonâ„¢ HD 4850 (Palit Design). It seems that the Palit 4850 card I have is supposed to be based on a different design by Palit, so would it be better to run the Palit drivers from their site - the driver is named as ....

VGA Driver 8.573 212MB released on 2009-02-18

Link: Palit Multimedia Inc.

EDIT: I am running 9.2 right now with no issues.

GPU is same... changes are in circuitry and design like those in Palit Sonic that I have. Normal ATI drivers work fine with non-referenced cards as well. Ideally you should get latest drivers from ATI website. Though I am still on 8.12

^^ i think the drivers for all manufacturer's is same.even my sapphire HD 4850 dual slot is not the same as ATI's reference design ..but i am still using the driver's from ATI's site.

i dont think it makes any difference :).

by the way Eazy sir, can you please confirm that 9.2 is working totally for .specially check with Crysis Warhead (incase you have it )as it seems to have problems with 9.2.

also anyone tell me whats the use of AVIVO package and the Hydravision for Vista..what is it exactly ? worth downloading ?

I got my 4850 yesterday evening and installed it with 9.1 drivers then today morning I downloaded and installed 9.2 drivers and now in the afternoon I have changed my MoBo so I am not in a position to do a comparison between the drivers.

By the way yesterday when I got the Palit 4850 I was also shown a Sapphire 4850 which I was tempted to buy - BUT - the price difference between the Palit and the Sapphire was 1500/-. :O

you might have seen the dual slot Sapphire HD 4850 which i have .. not much difference..even the clocks are at stock.:)

good that you bought the Palit one.

some people are getting real low temperatures with the dual slot cooler sapphire...like ankitmane who's getting in 30's :O.

but in my case it hovers around 48-50 @ idle and 70-72 on load.(gaming).

seems to be a bit high !

if you dont mind please post back with your idle and load temperatures .? you can check them using catalyst center. when idle.

and in the game you can see it using the on screen display of Riva Tuner.

I am using stock palit card and my idle is 43~44 and full load gaming never crosses 63 at all, note mine is not even a sonic palit card.

guess something wrong with my cooler :(..and idle temps's earlier used to stay @ 38-40 ..its only in the past 1-2 weeks they've shot upto 48-50.

what fan speed are you using ? automatic or manual ?

i am thinking of fixing a 120mm fan(have one lying idle) ..in the adjacent PCI-e or PCI slot to bring down the temperatures ...

any idea to do the same ?

is it needed..72-75 on load is normal or high ?

I think you need to look at the cooler and any dust that might have built up inside. I have read earlier of issues/over heating caused after some months due to dust buildup inside the fan/cooler :) Check it out. ;)

Though if its always been the same temp, take a look at cooling etc inside the cabby may help :)
