I love RPGs and I'm a seasoned gamer. KOTOR, KOTOR2, Oblivion, Mass Effect, etc. I finished them all. But, BUT, I'm always paranoid that I may not being playing the best/most efficient way possible. Call it an obsessive compulsive disorder Hence my post
I bought this game last week and am yet to play thanks to my mobo which is still in service center..
One question guys..i read the manual and it said something like the race will determine the path of the story..so, does the storyline vary for each race we choose...i mean is it entirely different for human, elf and dwarf..
Those are the ways to start the game not endings. They are called origin stories for a reason. When you start the game, you begin with "your" origin story.
I have not finished the game yet and have no idea about the ending/s.

it ll lead to single story eventualy.
i am playing as mage and my friend is playing as human, except the begning, eventualy we are on the same course.
i found it as an avg game, bcoz inspite of its great story line an twists an turns, some times game become very slow and boring, just too many questions!
Yes i agree with tajendra,it just slows down a lot sometimes,so many you just have to talk and talk and talk and talk.......... ,ok i think where this is going
i have just started playing it recently. took elf warrior, it took sometime just to kill an ogre. anyways i like it. will post when i finish it[probably after a week ]
I have been playing dragon origins from a few days, but today while playing I found that my characters wont follow me! Its really PITA to move them around individually or altogether for that matter, and specially in combat, Im at earl eamon's village where I have to fight to save him/his palace, and I really cant get them to follow me.
Anyone who knows how to solve this issue please tell me asap.
hey check if u have accidentally disabled the "Move Freely" option for your party members.. its done with the "H" key on the keyboard... see if that helps..

Apologies to have a presumably dead thread bumped. :ashamed:
1. Would it be too late to start this game? Late in the sense, visuals and how does it affect the main storyline considering Dragon Age 2 is already out. Or should I take up Dragon Age 2? Can read up on the first game if I wouldn't lose much.
2. How would this game compare itself to The Witcher 2 considering both are set in the Medieval era? I had completed it sometime back and in a word, it was EPIC and kept me hooked for close to 4~5 days! Is the gameplay and combat similar? Do we have a steep learning curve as far as combat goes?
3. Total time for completion assuming majority of the side quests are completed. I LOVE taking up side quests over main missions.

I'd suggest playing Origins, Awakening and then the second game. It'll help you blend into the Dragon Age universe and the combat a lot better, trust me you'll love the experience.

Alrighty thanks for the inputs! What about the possibility of romance in the game? Considering the series coming from Bioware, I am assuming there's plenty of those in the game.

I got carried away with New Vegas and Dragon Age II DLCs. I have little to look up to between Modern Warfare 3 and Mass Effect 3 so I decided to put it off till then.
Lots of differences between witcher 2 and DA in combat . DA series is like a strategy game which lets you control yourself along with your team mates. And you'll need to co-ordinate the attacks carefully to succeed unlike witcher 2 where you get to hack-n-slash plus some powers. Other stuff are the same, mostly.
And romance, you will get it before the last mission provided you can make the right choices.
I started playing this last week. It's been a fantastic journey so far. I'm presently here:
Finding my way to the Sacred Urn of Ashes at the temple!!
My thoughts so far on the game:
- The combat in the game is pretty hard at times, specially when you have different types like enemies unleashing their attacks on you and your squad members. It is extremely important to spread your squad members when your facing an attack from multiple enemies. Also, keeping an eye on each party member's health bar and healing accordingly is of prime importance as forgetting one member in the heat of the moment in combat will toast your member pretty darn fast. But after every long fight where you are victorious over the enemy forces, the feeling is grand! hyeah:
- Leveling up wisely and spreading points (skills, attributes) is of paramount importance in this game. This goes a long way in overall success in the game and progress. I have had good results with 2 warriors, a single mage and a single rogue in my team of 4 members. Leveling up should come as natural to hardcore RPG players, I'm new to this genre so keeping track of this with that extra bit of effort and foresight.
- The atmosphere in this game so far has been absolutely, and I stress and repeat again ABSOLUTELY (!) brilliant!! I have had to go to sleep at night really late, been glued to it. My routine has pretty much been > getting back from work and dang... infront of my PC clocking hours into this game. My alternate life...
- The in-game music is nice and I like the way the game spruces up the tunes in battle!
- Enemies - Oh boy many kinds of rivals here. From animals, wild creatures to humans and demons... oh lest I forget DRAGONS, fighting them has been a real challenge!! Gosh... damn those Darkspawn buggers!!
Overall I have been very impressed with this game, thumbs up Bioware... this has been a gem so far!!
