And do not play DA II and then move to DA: Origins. DA II is way easy when compared to combat in Origins. Origins is so much more fun! :ohyeah:

Completed one of the toughest levels so far last night, whew!!!

The Fade - OMG!! This level was super insanely tough. I mean it was riddled with monsters, traps and not to mention the maze like maps which made me super confused at times. But ultimately I could get past this level and heave a sigh of relief! Now, I'm onto the Dwarven land of Orzammar :)

Loved your impressions Hawk! :D

For a newbie to the Dragon Age series like me, this definitely helps. I am afraid I have to wait until December to begin this game. Nevertheless, it helps to keep a track of your progress (minus the spoilers) should I face some problem later on.

@ Gannu:

Thanks mate! I'm actually pretty eager to see how you constitute your 4 man/woman squad in this game, once you start playing it in December. Also, once you get into the later stages of the game it'll be interesting to see how you will find the combat against the different enemies in the game. I admit I have been overwhelmed sometimes with the classic RPG type combat in this game since I'm a newbie to the RPG genre and have always been a FPS/TPS guy. It's a sea change! :)

My progress so far:

Just finished choosing Lord Harrowmont's side at Orzammar and won the fights at 'The Proving'. Now onto 'The Carta Hideout' in the Dust Town.

Right... it's done! Completed the game!!

The last few levels really upped the bar in terms of combat and enemy count. The ending battle was of immense magnitude and I expected nothing less from Bioware! Also, what I specifically loved was the entire way the game's story put before me choices which I could make. This was really impressive as the choices I made radically changed the way the game forked it's way out in terms of unfolding itself. This made the already rich story driven gameplay even more riveting as some of the subtle choices I had made at some point in the game reflected in the later levels. Brilliance!

After lots of button mashing on mouse and keyboard and lots of less sleeping hours finally this epic title is conquered! Grey Wardens FTW!! :)

A few of the choices I made:

- Chose Lord Harrowmont's side at Orzammar and won the fights at 'The Proving'.
- Defeated and had my main character eliminate Loghain at the Landsmeet.
- Chose Alistair as King and Anora as Queen with their marriage.
- Took Morrigan's help before heading into the final battle against the Darkspawn Blight and the Archdemon.

Welcome to the world of RPGs by Bioware.

If you want to try out something similar or even better check out Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. Dragon Age is a spiritual successor to the BG series. The game is more than 10 years old so ignore the graphics till the story gets a hold on you. One warning though, this game had set the RPG genre bar so high that none of the later games will feel good enough. ever.

@pr0ing:

Yes, I have heard and read about the BG series. Will have to get around to playing. More than graphics, if the story is riveting I'm all for it.

Started with Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening today evening after I returned from work.

P.S. A little over an hour into the game and something struck me... this game is littered with many more chests and crates filled with goodies Vs the original title. Like DAO lacked them in any way, hehe! ;)

I burn countless hours on this, the game is bloody difficult at times. In addition do try Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 too :)

Completed DAO - Awakening today!!

The expansion is pretty good. Nice story but I wish the squad-character development in this one was a little better (the squad member personal quests could have been much better IMO). I loved the side quests in this one and I must admit one of the armor suit's you find in this expansion is uber cool indeed!!
The armor, boots, helm and gauntlet of the Sentinel that you get in the later part of Blackmarsh level :ohyeah:

Overall, I felt the game was pretty solid and killing the Darkspawn forces was fun!! The game did throw in a few new kinds of Darkspawn enemies but nothing that gave me a big headache after getting through the original title. My Grey Wardens were pretty hardened with all the leveling up and talents. :ohyeah:

Now, to the choices I made in while playing Awakening:

- Defended Amaranthine City.

- Allied with the Architect

Special note to Gannu:

Mate, I'm mainly adding the the choices I made along while playing the game so when you play the DAO series later this year it'll be great to know the paths you took while your play through and what turned different in the game for you. :D

Hey thanks for the update Hawk! Was the expansion short? Turns out you completed it pretty quick! :)

Can the saves and/or the characters be imported to this expansion from the first game? Or do we need to start from scratch? Knowing it is BioWare who developed it I am assuming it can be done.

Oh boy December is going to be super fun. Skyrim, LOTR: War in the North and the Dragon Age series. I prefer calling it the RPG month of the year. :ohyeah:

Yes sir... your 100% correct. The main character from Grey Warden can be imported to Awakening which is great (if your main character survived the original story that is, you'll see because I'll say no more! Choices, choices, choices in this game!!) You could start your game with a new character but I doubt anyone doing it because your imported character is so much more stronger and well customized than a new character. :cool2:

The expansion is not very big, should not take you very long to finish including the side quests. About 15 hours should do it at the most.

Just completed the Leliana's Song DLC. A nice glimpse into the past life of Leliana and how she came about to Ferelden. The DLC was way too short though and the final boss fight was ridiculously easy! :hap5:
