That's allowed. There is at least one person on this forum who is on first page of list of banned members. He is very much active on the forum specially on giveaway threads,

I sent PMs to 3 moderators in Sep'2020 with proofs but nothing happened. He is trading/dealing freely. He was active even today.

So banning really makes no sense then... Members can be taken for a ride.

Made a transaction with him, paid me in a similar fashion first, seemed sus as he was like don't worry I have to buy more items off you in the future(which he didn't), so asked him to pay the entire amount upfront or I won't ship. He kept saying he won't run away with my money lol.

Banning still makes somewhat sense as new members need to go through some eligibility criteria and forum rules before dealing in market section. Moreover everyone is always attentive while dealing with a new member but still it's not infallible cure to these troubles.

Just curious if he comes back with a different username? Is the ban ip specific?

Banning IP is problematic as most people don't have a static IP. This creates two problems:

• First, if his IP changes, then the ban will no longer be applicable to him. Also, he can just use a different connection, like his mobile data to access the site.
• Second, if he's on CGNAT (which most people these days are), then his entire neighbourhood will get blocked out of the site

This is not a TE specific problem, almost all sites face these issues and there's no fool-proof solution.

Again, if they want to cheat, they can create a new account using a different mail id or mobile number. There are ample ways to create a new account again.

it already works that way, email is required when you signup, even when signing up with google/facebook.

He has paid the due amount just now (12:25pm of 6/6/22).

@puns @cisco_tech / admins can decide if the ban remains or lifted.. i dont know how this works

I think the ban should remain, he paid only when strict action was taken.

I feel ban can be lifted but his buy sell privilges revoked , if it can be done ,
which has additional benefits for mods in future if required

How about a temporary ban ? With buying selling privileges revoked for 2 or 3 months like a warning.

he says he went to a remote place where there was no network coverage which i dont really believe as the messages to his whatsapp were always delivered and everyday he did come online as whatsapp shows "last seen ..... "

It would make sense for him to comment in this thread if he was misunderstood.
May be he did try to cheat but may have changed mind after reading this thread.
