i remember 2 more incidents:

1. Filling form...........

Once i saw my friend filling some form. I noticed that he was filling the Email-ID field in capitals. On asking whether his email id is really in capitals, he replied no and said that its mentioned in the form to fill all fields in CAPITALS......:rofl:

2. Sending 2 SMS always

One of my friends GF always use to send 2 SMSes. One my friend asked her the reason. he got a reply stating the second one SMS will go and hit the first SMS(if stuck in traffic) and thus the first SMS will travel at a faster rate and reach earlier............:rofl:

i have come across the virus bug many a times..

the common perception is the virus is like the organic viruses to which we are prone, upon explaining it is just a bad software they start to realize how noob they are.

and i still know many people who backup all their desktop icon when you ask them to backup before formating. :P

but really cant blame them. The misconceptions are generally planted by technicians who dont want their customers to get literate on the subject..they only make them aware of the problems and a solution which they can never try successfully. Its an eye opener situation for the poor fellas when you explain them properly.

there was girl, who lappy I used for few days since mine was not working.

now, after few days of returning the lappy.

She:Dude: you spoiled my laptop. its not powering ON. I tried in night and in morning too. it does not work

ME: nahi, it happens sometimes. try

* checking for battery. it might be out of charge

* Plug it in a power outlet and trying it on

* remove the battery and plugin it back in.

* Use another adapter

She:I don't understand all this. it happen only after you used it.

ME: Hmm..no problem. I would do this for you, bring it here

She: Yes, you caused this and you *have* to repair it anyhow

ME: What did I do?

She: you operate PC very fast, open lot of programs at same time. my lappy is not made for this kind of operation. you should only open one program at a time. see what have you done

(it was a comment made at my multitasking habits, as I usually open a Broswer with 15-20 tabs,1-2 IM clients,Music player,torrents,Outlook at all times etc.

)

ME: WTF:@

That time, I had a hard time explaining that laptop was out of charge and you just need to plug in power outlet and leave it there for a while

Virus related misconceptions are very common...

I guess the fault is behind naming them as 'virus (those biology ones)'

Few months itself explained my mom that comp viruses are not those organic viruses which cause cold and cough..

Here is something that happened with me....

It was the Viva day for my MCA project, I had done my project in Java which used JDBC/ODBC concept. I had the softcopy of my project with me in a CD. The old man taking my Viva asked me to give him a demo of my project. My project required at least 1 database (any of Oracle/SQL Server or MS-Access) to be present in the system.. When I asked the Old man about the database he bursted at me saying.. "When your Project needs Oracle/Sql Server/MS-Access or anything you should have brought that software as well" I just couldn't make him understand anything, the result was I scored poorly.. :(

People always refer to any portable music players as iPod. happened to me too many times. And of all the people who proudly showed off their 'ipod' to me, only two had iPods. One was a sguffle and other was a 160 gb classic.
