English TV series discussion

Watched 'Suits' S01. It was excellent, watched it in one go. I would rate it 9.5/10.
Also watched HIMYM S01-S04. It was pretty good too. I would rate it 8.5/10

Was planning to watch 'Homeland'. How good is it for a thriller/mystery?
@DarkAngel Homeland might be one of the best dramas i have watched.
Thrill yes, but mystery maybe a little low
but watch it anyway coz Claire Danes is Fantastic in it

nudity + thriller + noir

unlike spartacus the nudity in this show is sensual...rather than shocking...

sometimes i feel the nudity in GOT and Spartacus is an unnecessary addition

Any British show in general. They normally have a trend of keeping it short. Check out their version of 'The Office' and the American re-make. The final season for British version only had 2 episodes and the American one is in it's 8th season and counting. I understand it's to maintain quality and having less staff, but 6 episode a year is extremely low. 12 would have been good.

Budget may be a constraint as well. The opinion from this page makes sense

The other reason is to do with changes in the way programmes are made. In the 1960s and 70s, seasons of British drama often ran to the same length as they did in America, but whereas American shows were usually more 'glossy' in terms of production values, British audiences were generally more accepting of a cheaper, less 'cinematic' look (for example, using videotape instead of film). As that changed through the 80s and 90s, and expectations increased, so the British networks were forced to produce shorter seasons in order to put more money into production budgets.

Coupled with Wikipedia ...

British shows have tended toward shorter series in recent years. For example, the first series of long-running science fiction show Doctor Who in 1963 featured forty-two 25-minute episodes, which had been reduced gradually to fourteen 25-minute episodes in 1989. The revival of Doctor Who has comprised thirteen 45-minute installments. However, there are some series in the UK that have a larger number of episodes, for example Waterloo Road started with 8–12 episodes but from series three onward, it increased to 20 episodes, and season seven will contain 30 episodes.
