English TV series discussion

I wonder how they'll end it, the myth around Spartacus' disappearance after the war is not yet fully established. That itself gives a great suspense as to what path they'll choose for him.

Seeing the general tone of the show, i suspect it's going to be something positive like spartacus killing his adversaries and then disappearing.

The real Spartacus was crucified along with 100s of others.

That's one of the possible outcome. There are actually many contradictory historical accounts as to how exactly the story of Spartacus ends, but they all agree on one thing: He was a former gladiator and a great military commander who went on to be regarded as a symbol against slavery and oppression by the political class.

Spartacus was wounded in the thigh with a spear and sank upon his knee, holding his shield in front of him and contending in this way against his assailants until he and the great mass of those with him were surrounded and slain. The Roman loss was about 1000. The body of Spartacus was not found. - Source

It's going to end very bloody, can't wait for the gore fest. I think they'll have to break some sort of record in showing the amount of brutal kills on television to get it right. The varying mythology surrounding him, many possible outcomes and the bloody war finale is exciting enough.

I am not able to continue with Arrow. The story line does not impress me and the protagonist is not too cool or dark or smart or anything IMO.
Can finally start watching The Last Resort now that its finished and canned.

Finally got over with House M.D. This is one series people should certainly avoid watching at a stretch. Gets too damn repetitive with the only relief coming in through the fabulous pair of Hugh Laurie and Sean Leonard. Crackling acting by the two especially towards the series finale. Overall, a wonderful vehicle for the Mr. Laurie to show his immense acting (and musical) prowess.

Spartacus: War of the Damned - The bloodbath is back and how ! Ever since i've started watching Spartacus and Rome, i've found myself devoting more and time on reading up about the actual history of those two events/societies. Makes me wonder that with the kind of history India has had, there is such a huge scope for quality TV or cinema.

However, the end did surprise me as i was pretty sure House was gonna die at the end when i started with season 8. Overall, a wonderful vehicle for the Mr. Laurie to show his immense acting (and musical) prowess.

Same with me,

when you read the history of Spartacus, it as amazing that these not so well equipped (but good fighters) slaves / gladiators actually gave a tough time to the great roman army and slayed many of the well equipped and well trained Romans. He was great considering the position and domination of the Roman army in that period.

actually slayed

Well India did have some historical serials, specially in the heydays of Doordharsan like Chanakya et al. Those were good. We still have some historical based series going on I guess Star Plus.Problem with Indian TV is same as the one with our Indian movies. The production values are lower, there is much of romanticism with showing unrealistic masala mixed stories. To top it off the daily soap opera nature of the Indian serials doesnt really help. One can hope though.

I used to do that earlier, but some people here "forget" to use spoiler tags and I ended up knowing most of the story a few times. :|

Best thing is, read the first few lines.. jot down the name of the series you intend to watch and scoot. : P
Spoilers fly thick and fast even when the site has the tags for em..

I watched it till nov end i think. Wasnt willing to look into an out an out comedy show, hence continued with it :P

In the meantime.. The Americans - 8.5/10
