English TV series discussion

^^ really can't think of any. Deadwood maybe... but it has a more serious story, slow pacing and period setting which is pretty much the opposite of Banshee. However, I don't expect any fight in Banshee to top "the fight" from Deadwood.

Dropped Peaky Blinders after the first episode. Seemed like a boring version of Boardwalk Empire. Has good ratings on IMDB though.

Completed Les revenants. Brilliant! The show left so many unanswered questions towards the end. They would have to cover up a large ground on explaining those in the second season. That said, this show was very engaging. It started off rather slow, but as they began to explain the characters, their origins and the main plot, it starts to get interesting. There is something about the OST and the location which gives a Hannibal vibe. But definitely a show which should not be missed.

Stop with those Orange is the New Black recommendations, this show must die.

If you're going in with the promises that an all women prison holds; don't because there's zero fan service after the first 5 minutes.
Now this would be alright except the show is missing a plot too.

Also it has Jason Biggs.

^totally agreed. Currently at episode 4 and I am very hooked. I really feel bad about rock band guy and his lover :(

I found Julie's story quite gutting, literally. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. You'll learn more about Simon later on, which would put you on the fence for feeling sorry for him or not.

Completed Masters of Sex and for the most part, it was underwhelming. This even accounting for the fact it's essentially a drama (albeit based on real-life characters) set in the USA of late 50s. I couldn't help but feel that the show's 1st season could have done with 6-7 episodes instead of the 12 it aired. The plot is very weak and most characters are written such that you are not much invested in their journey by the time the season ends. The lead actors do a fine job but there is only so much they can do. The only character which absolutely had me hooked was Allison Janney's (amazing acting by her); most of the supporting cast is forgettable otherwise!

On the positive side, production values are fantastic. Late 50's America is wonderfully pictured and humor on the show is subtle.

Go for it if you have the patience to sit through a period drama, a slow paced one at that.

bawaahhahaha :D

much like mad men with its story telling?

Haven't seen that one but after looking it up on Wiki once I read your post, it seems to be much more celebrated among critics and fans alike!

Mad Men has received widespread critical acclaim, particularly for its historical authenticity, visual style, costume design, acting, writing, and directing, and has won many awards, including fifteen Emmys and four Golden Globes. It is the first basic cable series to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, winning it in each of its first four seasons.[3]In 2013,TV Guide ranked it sixth in its list of the sixty greatest dramas of all time,[4]and it was ranked seventh in a list of the 101 best-written TV series of all time by the Writers Guild of America.

Completed Season 6 Sons of anarchy. Like i said Earlier - Gemma is a b**ch!

Have to start House of cards, Anyone completed The Americans First Season? I heard its really good.. worth watching?

Completed Les Revenants. Amazing amazing show. The kid actors are really good, especially victor and chloe. There is something about it's OST, its chilling. Lots of irony.

If I had known that this is zombie series then I wouldn't have bothered to watch it. But this is something different. Finally a zombie stuff done right. It's chilling, scary and intense.

And I would have never thought this would happen, ha ha:

and...

Peirre : We can help you...
Lucy : Bawahahahhaahahhahaha

Will probably start Harper's Island.

I hate Serge.

Not only was he a total and utter cannibalistic psychopath, he also dragged Toni on a guilt trip. He should have stayed dead. Toni had did the right thing initially. Not sure what happened with his mother. Serge's back-story didn't reveal a lot about him or their mother. I'm surprised Lena slept with him. To top that, he had the nerve to hug Julie when she couldn't save Toni. The same person he had brutally stabbed for no reason. What a wreck!

Anyway, I have the choice to either start season 4 of Sons of Anarchy or season 3 of Homeland. Opinions?

That's the irony! and there are lot of scenes like that.

But I didn't understand why did they even start that trip. May be missed somehow.
