its nothing to do with indian govt.

we are not that morally correct to ban internet sites for love of morality.

remember that savita bh**i incidence?

that time it was real DOT involvement but still its openely availble.

Its all to do with Failtel and its allies on this bandwidth saving stuff.

Those slack-jawed phaggots at Reliance got a court order to block file sharing websites to stop piracy of Singham

WTF like anyone gives a shit about some fukkin stupid bollywood movie

Files Sharing Sites Blocked In India Because Reliance BIG Pictures Got A Court Order - MediaNama

Somebody should sue them for making such crap movies.

WTF!!!!

Reliance is just flexing their money power as if they own India.

How can an ISP ensure that some shithole bollywood movie is not transmitted through their network?
I hope that freak-show bombs big time in the box-office.

honestly guys, its our right to have access to all sites and decide for ourself to use which site.

ISP cant dictate what we can do.

we are all adults, well educated and we do know where is our morals.,

we dont need ISP dictating what we can use.and what we cant.

If we dont fight now,Its sure gonna come back as FUP came.

RS not working and i think almost all famous filehosting sites are blocked...

P.S : I have a Sify Connection

Instead of doing something about corruption our government is taking action against US... WTF... I would have loved if i would have born in some other country... If in life if i ever would get a chance to live in another country i would never come back to India... I am so ****ing pissed that i can't express it in BAD words... When i was in school i learned that Government is by the People, For the People and Of the People... Here is what i would add in that sentence... Government is by the poor people to whom they paid money and made false promises to vote for them, Government is for the People who are either Minister or give bribes , Government if of the People whoz party is in Charge and who do Scams , Take bribes , Play with poor people lives and do not do anything for poor people and of ministers who break law every now and then...

I am least bothered with the ban. I have a Sprint connection (secured vpn) in my office and I can access any god damn sites from there incl. p0rn. I do most of my torrent downloads from there. :D

You download in office ?? :O

Do you own the office ??

This is the first time I'm glad to be with a smaller ISP. Currently on Hathaway, no file sharing sites have been blocked.

Unless you are the owner/partner in your firm, you are inviting trouble. Almost every company worth their salt has strict policies against use of file-sharing services.

Do they really think they gonna stop piracy of Singham movie by blocking popular file sharing sites? It will get uploaded to other not so popular sites and all will download from there you cannot stop this like that.

Who is gonna see that soon to be getting flopped movie?

Although the IT Act of 2000 has no provision for blocking access to websites, DoT made it possible with Gazette Notification GSR 529 (E) - it said "Websites promoting hate content, slander or defamation of others, promoting gambling, promoting racism, violence and terrorism and other such material, in addition to promoting pornography, including child pornography, and violent sex can easily be blocked since all such websites may not claim constitutional right of free speech. Blocking of such websites may be equated to balanced flow of information and not censorship." But since this kind of block is issued directly by DoT and not through any Court, there is no public press notification or release.

The only way to know the reason of a block is with an RTI - which could take days if not weeks. What is easier though, is directly asking operators about the order from DoT, and possibly try to get a copy of the order - which is what we are in process of, you will know what's going on as soon as we do.

Update 21/7/11 #2: Reports are coming in that the issue has been completely resolved, and the sites mentioned above now open on Reliance, Airtel, MTNL and Fivenet – no other ISP had any type of complaint about any kind of ban. Airtel, Reliance as well as DoT has not commented anything on the issue yet.

I still can't open RS... I have a Sify Internet Connection so i think the problem is not fully resolved...

How do you expect me believe that it was a an accident when the only websites which seem to be blocked are popular file sharing sites? Maybe this was a test see how much bandwidth is saved if these sites are blocked.
