Filthy India Photos, Chinese Netizen Reactions

Guys this is perfectly normal as in Hindu cremation techniques, it is allowed to do this type of funeral, it is called "Mukha agni" where just a burning wood or coal peice is put in the mouth of the deceased person and the body is then put in the river, this is allowed and not coz of some aghoris or some poosr people but to save time and let others also be cremated, there is always a line of people who want to cremate their loved ones and known people there coz of religious significance.
It is the oldest cremation place in the whole world and the fire never goes out there...

I think littering is not that serious problem compared floating corpses in Ganges. floating corpses in rivers is creepy, dirty, unimaginable but true! something should be done about it
Fish food :D How long do those corpses remain floating anyway ?

Here is another review of Varanasi, but for some reason the water seems very clear, i wonder what season it was.

After seeing these pictures, I am sure about one thing. I am NOT gonna take a dip in that river no-matter how scared it is considered.
That river is thousands of km's long, how many tons of water is that ? is all of it full of corpses ?

What you do not get in a photo is flow. Rivers do not remain static they flow. Water comes from the Himalayas and drains into the Bangaldesh delta, now they should be the ones complaining but did not see any report about this. Why is that ?

It's been done like this forever, we did not need some Chinese tourist to tell us anything new here did we. This is what happens when you visit a FOREIGN country, you see wierd shit.

That china smack site is awesome, anytime i want to scare some foreigners, this is what i will use :eek:hyeah:

There was one line there that was good, everytime this guy feels he has no more creative spark he wants to travel to India. Now i wonder how well this trick works with the natives ?

Amazing Pictures, Pollution in China | ChinaHush

this looks more horrible :|

LOL @ quote from blog reply

I hope that your body gets put into a holy chinese lake by your family. I will then come take pictures of you and post them on the facebook.

You did not go to India to appreciate it but you went there with a ****ed up frame of mind. You went there to insult it. You probably have a similar mindset towards your own life. This is probably because of eating dogs, babies, worms and what not. A$$hole!

I honestly felt like crying by the end of the article..

The only solution for a country like ours is to promote literacy to our full strength and to make sure illiteracy is eradicated, without this one can make n number of laws regarding anything but they wont be of much relevance.

We have 70k+ crore to spend on CWG, but for education we only have 42k crore to spend. India seriously needs to look where its priorities lie rather than basking in the fact that we have a trillion+ economy and are considered potential superpowers.

This is extremely unfortunate and sad. If we really are to develop, we need to accept basic truths about this country only then can we realize where the priorities of our country lie.

Do you have anything to backup this statement ?

BTW I checked wikipedia this is our 11th 5 year plan.

Environment

* Increase forest and tree cover by 5 percentage points.

* Attain WHO standards of air quality in all major cities by 2011-12.

* Treat all urban waste water by 2011-12 to clean river waters.

* Increase energy efficiency by 20 percentage points by 2016-17.

Saw it yesterday. Completely out of words. :(

A corpse floating barely a few yards away and a lady brushing her teeth. :fear:

saw it yesterday too. it wasn't so graphic or disturbing. i had gone there few years back, and frankly speaking i did not see anything like this on the place where people dip in the water. the place is huge too, so i might have got a good side. but i was sure there were police patrolling to prevent people throwing things into the river. and also the river has many different streams. some dried up and some are fed by water coming from a dam i think. most tributaries had dried up though. and that was in summer when it should have been overflowing with mind numbing ice cold water.

World calls it insanity we call it our love for God.

There are so many hot water srpings in the world.. world calls it natural phenomenon.. we call it work of god and think they are holy..

there are natural gas (sometime flammable) coming out from earth's crust .. world calls it natural phenomenon.. we call it God's miracle and worship that place..

and you know I can keep going and going.. and there is no end to this sh*t.

The problem here is we have the planning but there is no implementation. The article in wikipedia is doubtful, a five year plan doesn't just have few points, it spans in thousands of pages. If we look at the last 10 five year plans, we have failed miserably in achieving our goals. Just look at the problems plaguing India. The guy was right, when we spend 70k crore just on CWG we got our priorities wrong. There was article on Azim Premji in TOI who said that spending on CWG is big mistake.

Look at China, they are now world's second largest economy, largest exporter, 2nd most powerful army, manufacturing hub of the world, sports power blah blah blah.

We just are not admitting that our country is in shitty conditions today.

In aravind adiga's book, "the white tiger", the protagonist narrates a para or two about the time he took his father's body for cremation to the river ganga. He talks about the bodies floating in the water. A frightening read actually.

Im not sure if it happens in the south. But i won't be surprised if some castes do.

That is the biggest problem in our country.. no one is ready to admit that we are really f**kd up.. And there is no escape to it if we don't start doing things right. We need a dictator in this country.. Now dictator does not mean what you are thinking.. dictator in the sense where you are forced to do things right.. otherwise you get killed.. capital punishment is a solution to the problem that we are facing today..

get lawyers and courts established in India.. so much that it can handle any cases within 1 month.. and then give punishment to them.. and that too capital punishment.. hang the corrupts.. and tell all the Indians this is what is going to happen if they don't start acting right..

I am ready to live in a country where I pay the tax and get the benefit what I should get as a right.. not where I need to beg for my pension at my old age..

I am ready to pay the fine if I jumped a red light.. if the policemen stop harassing me.. If they stop taking undue advantage of their power..

We should start worshiping our work first and then think about these posters and religious places..

While writing this I recalled this funny but somehow true One liner I heard somewhere..

Why is America/UK successful whereas India is not.. because.. US/UK main log kaam ko dimag main aur ladki to L*** pe rakhte hain.. but in India log ladki ko dimag main aur kaam ko L*** pe rakhte hain

and same is the case with out government employees.. but just replace ladki with ethics and honesty.

Well, he has a Right to be frustrated. Every honest citizen of this country is frustrated the way our country is going down the drain. Even I am frustrated, but then I have become used to it coz I know that no matter what you do nothing is going to change.

forcing everything down the throat is not the only way to get a solution. people should do it on their own only then it will be a success. no matter how many dictators come it wont change. look at the neighbouring countries to top and sides. They had its fair share of dictators. They are still filthy. China forces its policies on its people. Pakistan on theirs. Bangladesh similarly. Indifferent people will remain the same no matter who comes.

The amount of soulsearching going on here is amazing -- just because we do not conform to Chinese or other alien standards

It's not possible to make any value judgements here because religon is involved. That in itself is untouchable and immune to any fashions or fads of the day. It's tantamount to saying you can pray in this manner but not like that because another belief system says its not right. This is exactly what that Chinese author is claiming ;)

Things have not changed because the majority does not believe it should and i'm not sure if i can fault them with that decison.

Guys, watch this.. I don't want to discourage any Indian here.. but the point is as I said I would be more than willing to live in a country like China where even if there is dirt and filth but at least they are concerned about their citizen and issues they are facing..

Indian Government should learn something from this | The Revolutioners

Watch the stats shown in the video.. the difference in the last 20-30 odd years Chinese Government has bought to its country.. why couldn't we do it.. because of our government... I was discussing the same thing with my friend in office.. and he rightly pointed it out.. its not the people of India who are at fault its our policies and procedures.. government.. they are at fault.. how come an Indian jumping each and every red light in Delhi thinks a million time before jumping a traffic signal in other countries like Qatar, Dubai, US and UK.. because they have laws which are strict enough to empty your pocket for the entire month..

That is the basic flaw in your thinking, you are confusing the practices at a religous site for governance & development. These are seperate issues :)

You extrapolated from those pictures and came up with a very different picture of what the country represents or its general state and even its capacity for improvement. You basically fell for the spin.

I am assuming you did not watch the video.. I would highly recommend it though.. and for your information this documentary is not prepared by some chinese brat..

here is a snapshot that I wanted you to show..

I don't care about refrigerator, TV and mobile phones.. I am only concerned about the per capita income.. look at that.. 47 folds.. and that was 2 years ago..
