I purchased some trousers from Flipkart after quite some time. For some reason, shirts are not open box but trousers are.
I had purchased it along with some other items to avail the bank discount and returning these trousers basically brings it below the limit set for the bank discount, so they are deducting the whole 10% discount from the return.
Also, apart from size/fit issue, all other reasons are rejected for return stating an open box when actually it was my family member who received it and I provided the OTP over phone.
Seems this is the last time I am ever purchasing clothes from Flipkart as in this case it seems to work against the customer when you are ordering a lot of garments together.
As a follow-up, I had placed 2 orders over 5k using two different HDFC cards.
In the first order, I received a shoe that was a size larger and ordered a replacement a size smaller which fits fine but the leather was damaged. There is no replacement option for this exchanged item and only return is being allowed, from which they are deducting the entire 10% order discount of over 500, as returning this item puts rest of the order value below 5k.
In the second order, I had a trouser delivered as open box to a family member, the material for which I didn't like at all when I checked later. My usual sizing too was incorrect for this item and as it was delivered as open box, I only had the option to select a different size. I did so as I didn't have any other choice and now when I try to return it, I am facing the same issue again where the entire order discount is being deducted from the return of this item.
I wrote to the escalations team who called me blaming the seller policy on exchange. When I challenged them on the bank discount deduction which is unrelated to the seller and is a Flipkart policy, the person simply disconnected the call.
Didn't expect Flipkart customer care to be so unprofessional, but it personally means avoiding purchase from them as much as possible. FWIW, I wrote to the grievance officer and will probably raise it with the consumer helpline, though I don't expect any logical results.
TL;DR: For any issue, Flipkart will blame the seller policy and then the bank offer, even if it means they provide you a defective item on exchange or provide you less than 50% of the item price on return.
