Fs X

yep i spent hours trying to make perfect 747 takeoff and landing in fs2004.

I like flight sims. Its not quick fun.

And if you want quick fun then there are some community planes and upgrades and mods. Some arcadish planes will soon floow which you can fly easily.

The only thing i want from this game over FS2004 is better crashes :P

crash in FS2004 sucked big time.

^^LOL its not meant to be fun :D. Its a tool for learning how to fly an aircraft. Thats what FS is :). Combat Flight simulator is the dogfight one with arcadey fun element and I agree with u, it sucks :P.

Uhh, in short, Ace Combat is a good, fun videogame while FSX is a training application leaked from Training centres for pilots right? :P :P

There's no use in any simulator unless you're planning to really becoming good at it in real life which also depends upon the level of realism the simulator touches and feeds which really don't put these simulators in the same market as videogames.

Looks like u've never heard of FS go check up the website. I'm tired of your offtopic mindless banter. If you have no idea of what you are talking about, its best that you shut up. And since you are so uninformed, if you spend time in FS 2004 with certain selected control hardware, it counts towards a private pilot's license. Yes it is that good in what to tries to achieve! As funky said, it is fun to play as well if you care for realizm.

These pics look awesome and since its a DX10 game, it will require a DX10 video card for all those eye candy. The last time i tried any flight sim is FS2002 and tat was an wonderful experience. It takes some practice to achieve perfect take off and landing. From what I rmmbr there were no crashes etc. in FS2002 else it wud have been more fun. Will keep an watch on the hardware requirements as I'm damn sure it will need a huge amnt. of computing power. :D

^ Yep.It utilizes DX10.No card right now can handle that amount of realism. Not even the X1900s and 7900s.

@ Chaos: Good find.Iv wanted some decent pics of this game for quite a while. But seriously,is such a level of harshness really needed? Id just like to point out that Params' post was on-topic,and he and you are essentially saying the same thing :P FS is an extremely realistic sim.So naturally,in order to get such realism a certain level of fun has to be sacrificed. That puts Ace Combat a step ahead of FS as a game, since its much more action oriented than FS.So one cant really compare them, since each one does what it has to do,and spectacularly,at that.Heck, they could be considered as completely different genres, imho.

^ Nope sims are incredible fun. In FS you can spend hours cruising in the Alps just staring at the authentic real world scenery. And pulling off a perfect touchdown after weeks of practice feels damn rewarding.
The FS series isn't a hardcore sim btw, anyone can fly it even with a keyboard. Perfect balance between realism and accessibility.

Easy doesn't necessarily mean fun as Demon & Bluff themselves once said how they got bored of GT4 (700 cars, race only 6 at once lol) in a few hours only to never touch it again.
Whilst I am having as much fun with GTR (only 70 cars, race all at once) as I did in 2004 when it was released.
Easy is just fun out of the box at the cost of zero longetivity. Even Burnout suffers from the same.

Stormblast is a noob who thinks Kotor is the worst game ever made. Go play Sheep.

I Agree here with saumil , even I have got a bit bored of burnout ! After completing about 60 races its feeling very repetative and booring ! But that does'nt mean that burnout is a bad game{ its awesome , argubally the best racing game } , its just that it gets a little booring after playing a while !

Saumil,if I remember right,I don't think I posted it quite like the way you put it.I believe I simply agreed with Bluffy that sims get kinda boring after losing on the same track repeatedly, which, btw, happens more in sims than in arcade games, since they have a steeper learning curve.I still play GT4 and Burnout Revenge, and I enjoy them very much.Oh,and Burnout is definitely not easy at the later levels,I can assure you of that.

Ooh. Chaos Chaos....I'll not. What ARE you going to do about it? Create another PC thread and purposely choke consoles in it?

There are other decent ways you could have responded to that. I was stating my opinion on simulators which as as matter of fact was on topic. So what if i got facts wrong? heck you didn't even know what kind of game Re4 was and i explained it to you in the friendliest manner possible. Your id, fine. But having your brain dipped in a rage of chaos everywhere results in failure of learning new important things of life such as basic social manners both online and offline.
Though, I can tell you're frustrated, with PC not getting clear grounds on this forum because of some console fanboys (and Vice-Versa) showing the dosage of reality-check down your throat. Your other Gamespy thread also is hitting on consoles. Wanna back up your PC superior to consoles that bad? Get a bunch of worthy facts together and get back to me at the PC vs Console topic. And no need to create another thread on something PC which the consoles can't have just to make yourself feel better.

And Blade if you want to delete this delete it after making sure Chaos reads this.

It depends, losing is very much fun in GTR. Specially blowing your engine in the last lap that you had somehow pampered your car over to.
Racing is about the experience, winning is secondary. The number of podium finishes i've had in GTR can be counted in 1 hand.

Sim-racing is about endurance, and coming a distant 12th (out of 56) is an experience in itself after a 3 hour gruelling session that puts your machine through the absolute limits.
Nothing else can deliver the same thrill as drifting behind a car for laps in a perfect line looking for any chance to pass...

The 24 hour races in GTR (that's real time 24 hours) are even more insane with the frequently changing weather conditions wreaking havok upon your pit strategy.
You even have the choice of letting the AI co-driver take over for you at night while you sleep. And the AI in these games can drive competitively without needing to cheat.

Once you get the racing line and braking points figured out it becomes second nature and you begin to appreciate racing as it really is.
You will love it. I am nowhere as good as the pros, all my laptimes are 2-5 seconds off and I drive with the TC and Anti-Lock aids turned on; it's still pure grit.

The racing in Burnout involves simply putting the pedal to the metal and swerving left-right. It's a tp game, more focussed on crashing than racing.

Well I'm not gonna comment on this. Let the mods decide who has social manners and who doesn't :P. About your RE4 thing,

This is how I asked a question:
If its point and shoot, no way a gamepad can match a mouse+keyb. Is resident evil an FPS/TPS? I have no clue!

I merely asked a question, didn't put my ill informed opinion on anyone! This is what you said:
Uhh, in short, Ace Combat is a good, fun videogame while FSX is a training application leaked from Training centres for pilots right? :P :P

Which is basically dismissing FS even without playing/trying it out and with half knowledge cos I can tell from that comment you've never even made an attempt to play it. If that doesnt piss someone off, tell me what does?

You seem to be taking it all too seriously. I never dismissed anything.

Its generally understood Simulaters usually are a little less when it comes to pure fun and entertainment. Arcades are made with entertainment in 1st priority though i can't say the same for simulators.

About my post -

Uhh, in short, Ace Combat is a good, fun videogame while FSX is a training application leaked from Training centres for pilots right?

This is what we call a question that can be answered with expressions alternative to something like 'Please Shut Up' 'That is blatant lie' perhaps?? I didn't put claims on anything as much as you like to disagree with it.

There's no use in any simulator unless you're planning to really becoming good at it in real life which also depends upon the level of realism the simulator touches and feeds which really don't put these simulators in the same market as videogames.

This is an opinion. The world would be boring if opinions didn't differ. I generally am not into simulators but i tried to explain it the best i can and i trully see nothing wrong with it though anybody in this postion would stand corrected and wouldn't mind to if done in proper fashion.

Let the AI driver take over completely, and just admire all the realism 24 hrs !!!
Oh wait theres an F1 race going on, let me look at the arcade racing for a change.

The thing with FS is how many of us will have a chance to see something like 777 or 747 from the inside, get to know all cockpit controls, fly helicoptor over statue of liberty?

We cant experience that too many times in real life. Car sim is different thing, there are ways for anyone to get in GT cars if you are ready to pay small fortune ( its still not out of normal person its affordable for salary of 1 month at max ;) )

And normal person can drive the car but can he fly the plane? he cant.

Thats where FS adds fun. Trying to fly planed as close to reality as possible in virtual world without getting killed while doing so ;)

Why does this point is missed. its not car sim. its flight sim. FLIGHT SIM

Guess I can appreciate quality racers more than most people.

Maybe you can. But then again you dive into realism too much.
24 hr races !!!
Gotta agree.I spend most of my day playing games when im not on the 'net, but 24 hours is a tad bit too much.I can count the amount of times Iv stayed awake for more than 20 hours in my entire life on my fingers.
