Laptops Gaming laptop for around 40k.

Hi guys.... Im new around here.... But I was also looking out for a laptop.... Yesterday I went and checked out the Croma Entertainment laptop... It is the same as Zenith Director Plus Ultra laptop but with an option of only C2D T6400 with nVidia 9600MGS... the only advantage is they offer 2 yrs extended guarantee for the price of 1.... so the total guarantee will come to 3 yrs.... So what do u ppl think.... Shud I go for it or the Zenith one with P8400??

inquire about the warranty...who will provide it croma or zenith? if later is the case, then ask zenith laptop owners about their after-sales experience. in the mean time, check out this one from hcl...looks good to me:
HCL Leaptop T39

The HCL one is not that feature rich as the Zenith one. The HCL one has only Intel 4500M HD compared to the 9600M on the Zenith laptop.

@abhisheksohal When will you get delivery of your laptop?

yaar i opted for P8400 processor but there is a big problem!! The guy who is to get it for us has fallen ill... :( and he hasnt yet ordered it from the distributor whom he knows! :( and I cant call him these days coz it'll be not so courteous.. so i am really thinking of buying the one with T6400 processor! coz its in stock with one of the ditributors in ludhiana! its for 38k inc. tax and everything! And the P8400 one he is giving for 42k final..and that one he will have to order and it'll take 7 days more!! :( ..and if i buy from the guy i know he can get a discount of min. 1000 bucks..but then hes taken so long now!! Im gettin really frustrated!! Moreover..whichever laptop i tell him to order it will take a week!! Please advice everyone if i should go for T6400 processor..its 2ghz,800 mhz fsb,2mb cache...how much diff. would P8400 and T6400 make in games?? I mean the main processing in games is dependent on GPU..which is good enuff..and one guy in thinkdigit forums has posted his review and he has the older T5800 processor..its also 2 ghz,2mb cache,800 mhz fsb..but T6400 is 45 nm penryn so a little faster..but its not the 25w cpu as is P8400..
heres the review link ::Review-> Zenith Director Plus Ultra Laptop - Digit's Technology Discussion Forum

i think its time to study than to play games on ur lappy. believe me playin games will be much more fun when u have that "exam tension" off ur mind and by that time u "friend" will also get well...remember he can save u 1000 bucks

Arre yaar these sessional xams keep takin place every month in my college!! Just recently we had first sessionals 10 days back..so that way i'll be never able to get the laptop until the sem gets over! :p Anyways I think if my "friend" doesnt do anything bout this in max. two days from now..im gonna get the 38k T6400 one.. which my dad is also ready to buy anytime..
also this one can play the latest games inc. GTA 4 at good resolution like 1280x800!! with more than 20 fps! Read the review at thinkdigit forum..

I too want to buy this Zenith laptop and will scourge the Chandigarh and Delhi(Nehru Place) for it. I have to buy it before the end of March. If somebody knows where it is available in Delhi, it will be a very big help, Mucho Gracias! :D

i have got the Zenith director plus ultra laptop.....for any queries please post PM me or mail at akitosforever@gmail.com

Overall its a great machine with no specific complains so far, except

1) The speaker output is low.

2) just 2 USB ports.

else its a killa machine for that price which no other brand can come close to.

FYI. The croma laptops is same as the Zenith ( subtract the Zenith Logo)

Its the same ( even price) so dont bother.....infact tata offers extended warranty...so good chance..!

go for it!

There is only one Croma in Delhi IIRC (and one each in gurgaon and faridabad) , its in Rohini , just go there and they'll show you the model

The HCL laptop you mentioned only has 8200M graphics. Why buy this when you can get the 9300M on the Lenovo G430a laptop which retails for around 34k(has 1GB RAM though).

Anyway, I heard that the 8xxx series mobile graphics cards had some overheating problems. But am not sure if all manufacturers had the same problem but mainly Dell users with 8400M had this problem.

Update:

Checked out Croma lappy. Since I have seen Director range from Zenith before, I can say for sure it is the same thing. Only the Director logo on face replaced by Croma :). If there were any doubt it was removed by the system property page in Vista - bold Zenith logo :)

My mini review (consider me a newb to lappies)

Screen - Not as vibrant color as I have seen in HP/VAIO. But then again nothing to complain.

Trackpad - was responsive enough. But I would have liked a trackpad-lock button(as in HP) as the trackpad is slightly on left side.

Overall build quality - Again nothing to complain about. A bit on heavier side. But definitely sleeker that a vostro 1500(the only lappy i have used before).

vista score - if it matter it was 4.9. 5.3 for graphics.

specs - I'm attaching the cpuz dump text. Yeah the salesgirl did allow me to plug in my own pendrive :D :D

price - It was a model with T6400(but you'll notice CPUZ identifies it a P7350/Penryn). Price at 43k inclusive everything. Plus it had 2 years warranty. I'm getting same model at local Zenith dealer @ 38k.
