hi guys !!!! need gfx card advice .....
my components
x2 555 3.2 Ghz
4gb ram 1600mhz
vx450
resolution- 1440x900
now the thing is that i was going for 5770 when gtx 460 came by !! so wat i wanna kno will gtx 460 wil be an overkill for this setup??? and will x2 555 bottleneck it ??? is 5770 hawk better than vanilla gtx 460 ????
TIA :)

For your resolution...a HD 5770 is enough..
If you plan on going full HD soon..then take GTX 460 into consideration..

For the temp..48C at full load..it is absolutely normal..nothing to worry about..

guys,
is it advisable for me to buy hd5770@9.2k?(or should i wait for gts450?)
have come across various forums
where users are having all kinds of problems with hd5770!
dunno whether the issues were solved! :(

Well, the GTS 450 is being launched to directly take on the HD 5770..
If its the same story as the GTX 460..then we are in for a treat..
the battle will surely bring the prices down of the HD 5770..
so it is advisable to wait..

It was due to launch in august, but i guess there has been a delay and now its set for launch in the second week of September.

i dont think it'll be released very early.....gtx 460 is a success, and only after reaping its benefits the'll release it

well.....u can expect around 10k, but who knows

@tajendra
i see you are using an hd5770(from your signature)
what has been your experience with the card?
have you encountered any problems with the card while playing games?
well my friend, no problems whatsoever with my 5770, very good card at its price point, but if 450 is based on 460 arcitecture and overclock as good as 460 i would say 450 hands down, just wait and see!!!:p

thanks for the reply tajendra!!

going for hd5770 hawk!!

have simply lost patience with nvidia(can't wait another 2 months!)

btw which version of catalyst are you using?

have you played BORDERLANDS with the card?

no not yet, but i will try that game soon!!

i am using 10.4 in win xp, 10.7 in win7 with no problems, main problem is with crossfire setups, anything after 10.4 is causing lot of problems in crossfire setups, this is the only reason why i am not going for another 5770!!!!

 As u have a good PSU no worries on that front. As Ragz says, the Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 ~ 5.2k is the best card in ur budget.

hey tajendra

what temps are you getting with HD5770?

which cabby are you using?(have you installed additional fans on the cabby?

Q) What my budget?

A) 7.5k

Current rig Specs

CPU : Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz (stock, no overclocking)

Motherboard :Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H (G33 chipset)

RAM : 1GB x 2 = 2GB (dual Channel) DDR2 @ 800MHz

Monitor : 24" Dell S2409W 1080p

HDDs : 500GB + 500GB + 320GB Seagate (3 nos.)

Q) Which PSU/SMPS I'd be using?

A) Corsair 400 Watts

Q) My Primary use?

A) Hardcore gaming (as much as possible in that budget, and card should be a bit future-proof)

Q) What resolution do I intend to game on?

A) As high as possible (desirably 1080p)

Q) Interested in Crossfire/SLI?

A) No. Have only one PCI-E slot on Mobo.

Q) Open to both Nvidia/ATI?

A) Yes.

Appreciate any help.

Regards.

You will get a Entry Midrange card in a budget of 7.5k which wont be able to max out games at the resolution you want to play at.

Your best bet is to get a second hand HD 5770 if you cannot increase your budget. That should be the closest to what you want from your card.

hi funky,

i get around 47 'c at ideal and 70~72 at load, mind you, i have gt 250 below it which only run on max clocks and ideal at 63~64 'c and load around 73'c since i am using it for physx,

about the cabby, i dont really want to spend too much(actually nothing:p) on it, mine is a old(got it from my old machine) open air one no fans, just open from all the sides:eek:hyeah:, i actually love to watch all parts working in front of my eyes and hate to spend on accessories (in short i am typical Indian :bleh:)

oh ya about BORDERLANDS, really cool game, i am playing it right now ta all settings maxed out and i am at 20 level.

ragz , G33k and Dark

thank you very much.

actually i did read into the thread but after i posted.

pls bear with me, too much data , caused my brain to fuzz out.

Iam planning for a slight GPU upgrade. The system configuration is as given in the siggy & the resolution i play is 1680x1080. I was planning for a HD5670 512MB DDR5 or GT240 512MB DDR5, but locally only GT240 1GB DDR3 (5.1K+tax) & HD5670 1GB DDR5 (6.4K+tax) is available. The card won't be used for a long time, just need it for a month or so. I would be mostly playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Ofcourse the HD5670 is a better performer among, but my question is whether its worth the extra 1.3K?

I need a buying advise real quick, coz i'll be going out to buy it today evening..

^^if you are gonna use for a month only why not get a 2nd hand card from TE market ?...
4850/4770 or something.
