Guys I am building a gaming rig 4 med and high end games...'

My first preference is Amd platform but intel is also welcome....

I need a 24 inch lcd moniter preferable samsung with full hd...'

A good mobo and proccy to overclock and a good gpu , psu and a gaming case with good cooling and side transparent panel....'

Help me guys....!

In 70K don't expect good looks and performance side by side.

You have to choose one but never loose build quality.

It's really difficult tobuild gaming computers within a budget less than 1lac.

Even if u build it will not be able to play the games that may come after 2 or 3 years.

So it is either good either to stick to a budget gaming rig or a completely high budget gaming rig.In my thought budget rigs are best.

Thank you

Squeezing in another 10~15k could get you a beautiful i7 platform + the newly launched HD4890/GTX275 which would kick the posterior of most rigs mentioned here but otherwise the specs Roboghost's suggested pretty much sums up the rig for you.

Wait a minute. Werent you allready convinced for i7 rig on TDF? You said yourself

Thanks guys 4 this knowledgeable discussion....'

Now I am quite convinced 4 core i7 but as I heard that intel is launching westmere in nxt yr so why not get that and stay atleast future ready...?

I read a benchmark review of phenom 2 940 and intel core i7... They reviewed both proccys with same config and it says that these 2 proccys r quite similar in many tests and in some tests phenom 2 beated core i7 and they were shoked 2 c that and told in conclusion that phenom 2 is better in this price than in core i7s price as in performance and pricing...!

Now how much true is this and guys after reading the review I am totally confused...' what 2 do....?

Cooling: OCZ Vendetta 2 - 2.5k

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP31/33 - 3k

RAM: Corsair 2*2GB DDR2 800MHz - 2.9k

GPU: MSI R4890-T2D1G OC HD 4890 1GB DDR5 - 15.7k

HDD: Western Digital 1TB SATAII - 5.2k

Cabinet: HAF 922 ~ 6/7k soon @ mediahome.in or HAF 932 - 9k

SMPS: Corsair VX 550W - 5.8k

Optical Drive: Samsung SATA - 1.1k

Speakers: Altec Lansing MX-5021-7k

Monitor: Dell 24" - 14.5K/16k

Keyboard: Logitech Multimedia - .5k

Mouse: Logitech MX518 - 1.4k

Total = 70k

Result: Gaming 9/10, Audio 9/10, Video 10/10

Coz imho i7 mobo proccy kit for 30k or a Quad core kit for 15k is a total waste for a gaming rig. in gaming Clocks matter more than cores. u may do n no. of tests comparing quads/i7 against a e7400 @ 3.8Ghz if u want.

Ya I did but look at my post what I said...' I am confused with core i7 and phenom 2 940...' as westmere is launching nxt year then why take i7 this yr why not wait and have westmere proccy which will b latest..?

Thank u guys but I said that my first preference would b an Amd rig so any config in Amd....'

And 4 case cm 690...' is pretty common so any other case @ 8k would b helpful as I am stuck btw antec 900 and thermaltake armor + mx...'

I can extend my budget to 1 lac but I think that I should save it 4 westmere proccy rig nxt yr....'

Everyone's suggested Intel as the performace and well as overclocking is in Intel's favour currently, even with Phenom II giving it stiff compteition. You can opt for Phenom II as well but there's a reason you see only Intel suggestions till now :)

@Arnab

yup no phenom can beat the intel e7400 OC in gaming performance.

And ive edited my post's cabinet: HAF 932 gud for u IMO.

Wait till November, you will have lot of hardware options ...

Holiday season will see lot of next gen graphic cards, maybe i5 too and it will be wise to wait for it, and all the new games assassin's creed 2 and dragon age origins and many other will also get released along the same time, wait till November....

There will always be better options round the corner. If you want something, just go ahead and buy it.

I remember buying a pentium 120 mhz system with 4 mb ram and a whoppin 1 gb hdd for 60k. Maybe i should have waited 12 years for an i7 system

I will assert this point again,

If you buy GTX 285 for 20 K or whatever in hopes you will not have to upgrade for another year or two, boy will you be disappointed...

Their is a timing when you upgrade, like Q4 every year is a grand technology showdown,

i7 old

GTX 2xx directx 10 old

after 4 months may be you see GTX 3xx with 50% more performance, supporting directx 11 at the same rate, next thing you know market is flooding with directx 11 games and you are playing in directx 10 mode after spending 20k...
