If opposition is capable of influencing people and bring their opinion to fore, such activities can influence policy making.
Reason why you are not impressed by current opposition is because people even forgot what and how an opposition should work.
Hence your samples from other countries and their politics.

How well is it working in Israel?

Opposition there is only interested in toppling the government and pushes for policies that will make Israel lose the war.

Then blame government for losing, get the media to amplify the message and if not Likud then Bibi will be gone at the next elections.

Only if the same happened in India for right reasons.

With the kind of performance by ruling leader of Israel, no wonder their opposition is desperate. Luckily, opposition there is not having much to do it seems, unlike locally here.

Desperate because they can't win and when they do they can't hold on before a no confidence vote takes them out.

In the end its the people who decide. Political volatility is high over there. Five elections in as many years.

Opposition there is much more visible. National strikes holding up traffic?

Now they are resorting to lawfare over there. That card has been played here already and thankfully failed. I'm referring to the SC exonerating Modi in 2012.

Everything collapsed after that because they aren't learning from their mistakes. They aren't offering a viable alternative and until that changes they will spend even more time being in the opposition.

Past issues should be an excuse now, at least they should learn from history.
Again, does not address the sheer reality that opposition is ineffective as of now, not giving any hope to people whatever the reason.

It's a protest vote. They vote as a block as a show of strength to take them seriously the next time.

This happens often in France where people will vote for the extreme right just to punish the party they normally support.

What they're asking for isn't feasible. Regardless of the party there is bipartisan support to defend Israel.
 
The main reason dems didnt win was, because Kamala's policies werent really aligned with the left, and this is a problem Dems have had for decades, they might be all for freedom, liberalization or whatever but their policies still support corporates mainly, this disillusioned a lot of their voter base, and also a majority of dems didnt even turn out to vote

when their main selling point is increasing reservation quota, introducing reservation even in private jobs (look at Karnataka's bill, which thankfully wasnt passed), and adding even more reservation for the second highest majority in India, then you know all these idiots want is to come to power and thats about it, tho tbh there are some good people in Congress being hamstrung by the party policy and BJP is also regressing pretty fast

no traction, the reason the above mentioned subs are popular is because they have been around forever, and peeps engage in it for better or worse, even if you create a new sub, people just wont join it and it'll just die off, attempts have been made in the past in making an alternate sub, but unless you get users to participate in a big enough number, then its futile

It's a myth that liberals are champions of free speech. Conservatives suppress opinions openly, liberals do it secretly.

What ruling party says is official. What opposition says is not. Why listen to then. And this does not stop opposition from saying whatever when they are unaccountable. I ignore them and encourage others to stick to what the party is saying and more importantly understanding what it is. Not so easy.

If I want to know what Trump is doing then I will follow Trump, media & social media either partial or neutral.

Now tell me why would any of those source lie about Trump's policy?

Obviously they won't. So for the purposes of this discussion and my intent it is perfectly acceptable.

Why is this is so hard to get. It's a simple formula I came up with which you can use anywhere to know who to follow and who to ignore. You don't need to live in the country concerned or even speak their language to get what's going on.

There is a theory on power by Wilfred Pareto.

He says that the society is divided in two: elites who rule and masses who are ruled.

Elites come from a distinct background and have different interests compared to the masses.

There are two types of Elites: Lions and Foxes.

Lions rule with might and strength: symbolising conservatives.

Foxes rule with cunningness, giving the illusion that they come from the masses when they don’t: representing liberals.

Power keeps exchanging hands between the foxes and lions. He calls it Circulation of Elites.

But at the end of the day, Elites are distinct group of people and have little to no concern for substantive needs of the masses.

His ideas have many flaws and have been criticised severely by from Marxists to Pluralists (liberals) to Structural-Functionalist (Conservatives).

I see at the liberal and conservative debate and can’t help but feel the relevance of this idea.
