Hello TE, i am new here and i am planning to buy a high end gaming config in these 3 weeks. I need such a config tht shldnt be heavy on my light bills :(

Yea but i will nt compromise on performance my budget is 127k max and i dont intend to Overclock ( It will shoot my light bills up on the 7th heaven, my current light bill is 200-350 and i dnt want to get too much of bills ) My Purpose is Gaming and i will be using it for 4-6 hrs max. I will like to have some cooling ( does max. Cooling result in rise of amnt of bill ) nt too mch and a bit of ligtning fr shw off (toxic Green prefered) and i wish u all help me in Gettin my Dream rig. Guys i hav 1 thing to ask if i use Corsair 450VX will it result in rise of bills above 800 in 4-6 hrs of gaming or Choose a PSU tht keeps the bills below 1k [Posted frm Mobile Sorry]

whoa...a budget of 127k ...wish i had that kinda budget

and ppl who are wondering abt the budget being 27k....well, he might make a mistake once...but twice he said his budget is 127k...once in the thread title and again in the body...

@OP dude...if ur budget isnt 127 but 27k then im sorry u cant get a high end gaming rig in that budget...and the rig u can get wont push ur light bills much....

but if ur budget is really 127k then i dunno why u call urself to be a lower middle class person...are u suffering from some inferiority complex...anyways...just b assured that a high end gaming rig will push ur light bills up easily...but u shudnt be worrying abt that if u can spend 127k on a rig...u can spend 1k easily on the light bill i hope...

I am not gonna describe the Price, But I am sure everything will come under your budget.
CPU :
1)Core i7 920 or 965 (Power Consumption Benchmark Link:Intel Core i7 920 and 965 review)
2)C2Q Q9550 (178W - 3DMark06, Power Consumption Benchmark Link :Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550/Q9450 - 45nm Prevails :: Articles :: www.hardwarezone.com)
MoBo
1) Asus P6T Deluxe (Power Consumption Benchmark Link: A couple of Core i7 motherboards compared - The Tech Report - Page 9)
2) Asus Rampage II Extreme (Power Consumption Benchmark Link : PC Perspective - ASUS Rampage II Extreme X58 Motherboard Review - Ultimate Enthusiast Platform)
GPU
1) GTX 295 (Go with this as far as Power is concerned)
2) HD 4870 X2
(Power consumption comparison Link : bit-tech.net | Review - Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 1,792MB & Quad SLI)
RAM
-Any tri channel DDR3 ram
I would suggest Corsair TR3X3G1600C8D
go for 3GB instead of going with 6GB, even if you have 64-bit system
(Link : Report: 3GB vs 6GB RAM on Core i7 Benched - Tom's Hardware)
PSU
When talking about performance and componants related to this configuration, I think you will need at least 850W of Power supply
HDD
WD velocityraptor VR150 300 GB
(Power consumption comparison Link : Western Digital's VelociRaptor VR150 hard drive - The Tech Report - Page 15)
Monitor
Dont have much knowledge, But go with Any Dell 24'' HD monitor, which will fulfill your performance needs

Final verdict is when you are going to configure higher end gaming rig, Power consumption should be secondary issue IMHO.
Because these top class components are built for providing MAX performance in any case. they would definitely eat your resources for that.
Although you can compare these specs in above links and find out best for you.
But you will be paying little more extra for your light bill, that's for sure. (IMO not that much extra though)

Eh, i thought i was the Wackness, but damn, it seems u r the one who needs the psychiatrist :P

**no offense**i come in peace** :)

Anyways,

Just follow the June 09 Rig guide n u will get an awesome pc which will consume around 200W/Hr

i.e. 4Hrs x 200W/hr = 800W/day

30days x 800W/day = 24KW/month

24KW/month x Rs.10/KW = Rs.240/month generated because of the computer.

PS: I have no idea about the cost of electricity per KW... it used to be rs.2/KW many many many years back, so assuming inflation 5 times :P

WTF!!! I hardly get time of my job and second thing i hav saved 127k frm last 7 yrs to get my dream rig and i asked for help here thn u guys started fooling around and making my threads mess i asked for help nt for hell spams and guys i can afford electricity bills till 1.5 k and this rig will be a gift frm me to my bro so i want the best his birthday is on 6th august LOL and mods dnt close the thread. Thnx for the guy who gav info abt the power consumption its the only post thts valuable and i think being sensible guys nw u will help me? I hav hacked airtel MO for unlimited usage so dnt make a fool of urself and be sensible. Now i think you got ur answers, nothing but i want to conserve electricity LOL :)

Dude, no need to panic.

People here are correct with info you have provided.

We respect your affection for your brother but with all humility I would say this -

"You can give your brother a total awesome rig even with 60% of the budget you mentioned, just use the rest of the money for better purpose, perhaps his studies or just deposit it in a fixed a/c on his name". It will be helpful for him in his future.

Technology obsoletes at pace faster than Mayawati changes her chameleon colors, so do not waste your hard earned money on something which is going to get obsolete in next 6 months, when you ll have perhaps i5, DX11 cards etc etc.

No offence, just pure humble advice.

It is your money and you are free to spend they way you like it but please do think about it.

Good luck

This is what should be your first post. Now all confusions being cleared, Let the i7 specialists come and make the best suggestion for you.

I would like to add only one suggestion. Please save 27-30k from the total budget. In about 1-2 months, AMD is gonna launch the new 40nm 5xxx series GDDR5 DirectX11 compliant graphic cards. So you can give your brother the best Computer. :)

Thnks guys for ur help nw going to sleep will meet @ 10:30 am Bye w8ing for the Guru

Please NOTE : MY RIG SHOULD BE HIGH END POWER CONSERVING RIG THNKS HAPPY POSTING :P

Now since OP has cleared. We can suggest the best for the budget but i dont get it a powerful gpu is anyway gonna consume good amount of power so how to slack on the bill thing??....and OP u aint gonna get 1.5k bill by even the most power hungry rigs, running 4-5 hrs a day.

Considering peak 400w consumed in a hr it wud be 2units per day running 5hrs. ie. 2 x 5 = 10rs/day x 30 = 300 max per month.

Since he wants power saving rig.....i guess 4770 CF would be the best bet but on other hand availability is an issue...

heard xfx 4770 are selling for 7k odd..

@OP also mention what u need like some wont prefer high end soundcards, speakers etc. So make it clear what you want. mention each component, so that we can suggest better.

Ok here it is i just dnt care abt PSU just i dnt want any Shooting of bills above 1.5k otherwise my parents will kill me :P I WaNNA MAKE CLEAR THT THEIR WILL BE NO OVERCLOCKING AND ALL THE PARTS I WANT IS HIGH THTS Y MA BUDGET IS 127K. sure dude its 127k and not 12.7k?? geniune qestion

Please inform us about what you are going to do with the system? Play high end games etc.? What should be the screen size? Because screen size would influence the type of graphics card required. Going for a high end graphics card without requirement would only consume electiricity and generate heat for no reason. At the buget you can get anything, so the requirements besides the power consumption should be the main concern.

I hav mentioned all the stuffs above , and Gowtham plz wat a rig u suggested atleast take pain to type their names , Please Guys Suggest a Rig which is high end and a good one , thnks

Elnino, a high end gaming rig is going to consume a lot of electricity. Just accept this fact. Either you can play crysis at 1920x1200 or you can save power. Not both.

@OP: Go get a LED/OLED/AMOLED display.

else spend 77K on the machine. Invest the remaining 50K wisely, the interest will pay for the electricity bills. :P
And how does using CCFL improve the performance in any way? So ditch those in the first place if you are really keen on saving power.

@Elnino - look out for Asus mobo with EPU or Gigabyte board with DES for whichever config you go.The reason behind this is the ASUS EPU/ Giga DES energy saving features.

I own the ASUS P5Q board which has the EPU 6 engine. When idle or surfing/music etc, it slows down the CPU clock, CPU and cabby fans to lower speeds. this helps in saving some electricity.

eg. i have a C2D e8400 @ 3.0 ghz, when in idle my cpu runs ast about 1.8-1.9GHz. Asus boards can also slow down the GPU clock - but only on asus GPU's.

the guy wants to spend 127k and here you guys are telling him to save money :bleh: (yes i know it's the right thing to do, but hey, it's his money). just suggest an i7 975 rig with quad sli gtx295s and his budget will vanish into thin air
