How to make bathroom flooring anti-slip?

for the same reason i also ordered a couple of mats without these suction cups, to see which ones will hold-up better & will be more convenient, my idea being to roll them up after use or/and put them out in the sun.
Be mindful while stepping on those. Recently a colleague suffered a shoulder dislocation when he stepped out of the shower on the mat and the mat slipped. This is in a corporate guest house that is very well maintained by a specialist contractor.

ouch! :tongueclosed: bad! hope he's better now.

thanks! i returned most of them & have kept two for now, one of them being this, which i tested on wet floor & found to be satisfactory. i will be using it inside the shower-space, and not out of it.
still have one mat with suction cups left with me which i havent returned yet. it was the softest of the lot so in double-minds whether to keep it or return it. outside the shower-area, i wish to use one of those regular mats which grip well on the tiled surface.

Because those suction pads are only good after you step on them. After some time they lose suction or grip. How good the grip is also depends how clean they are and the quality of the pads. Not a long-term reliable solution.

No suction pads on that but it will take work to maintain. A pressure washer would be ideal to clean it.

Yes fungus might make them black and green depending how often mat is cleaned and with sticky layers even these might as well become slippery.

Unfortunately, the only way to make the flooring anti slip is change the tiles. Any other workaround is gonna be temporary and won't be of good quality and finish.

There's no guarantee that new tile will be anti slip. So it's not a reliable method.

Our new "anti slip" marketed tile is very slippery.

I wasn't suggesting new tiles. We have installed something called as "kadapa kallu" (in Kannada), a rough stone piece. There are small crevices which help with grip.

:p We had similar stone tiles before we switched to current slippery "anti slip, modern" tiles.

Is that in the centre to clean feet? it's a granite slab about 1 foot square

Kadapa is a place in Andhra

I am from Andhra :) What we call Kadapa Stone is called Kota Stone elsewhere. We get it from quarries in Kadapa, while the north quarries were mostly in Kota. Not sure nowadays, but the names are stuck.

You queried if that is granite, it Is not, it is limestone.

Yes, dual purpose. To clean feet and better grip. We have installed it for the entire floor not just a portion.

A little off topic: if this is to help elderly people, addition of handrails will also be helpful.
