I wanted to send a mobile to someone in India, a mobile worth 10k..

Most of the couriers are NOT accepting it (bluedart / aramex / dtdc / pafex / firstflight )..

Only fedex accepts it but for a very high fee .. Rs.700 + 200 more for Insurance..

Any solution?? :(

Why did BlueDart, Aramex and DTDC refuse it? All of them do handle mobiles. You can call up their respective head office numbers and confirm the same. That said, BlueDart will be very expensive - around 2.2K. Aramex is going to be around 120 bucks without insurance. I was told they don't even offer an insurance option for mobiles.

^ What do you declare them as? I was always told non-documents will be charged a different rate as opposed to documents

+1 for Overnite Express.
About to complete a deal on TE, the seller is shippingthe mobile through Overnite.
That was the only option available, would cost aaprox Rs.450/-

Aramex- Used this to ship a phone today Dell streak, charges- 240 plus 2 percent for insurance, same is with overnite they charge 150 for shipping and 2 percent for insurance.

i have couriered a cell through TNT for rs915 as i had to declare it . the person who had come to collect the parcel made me open the packing and checked each and everything and wrote what was inside the courier.

I usually send it through Professional or DTDC and tell them that its hard disk , 50-100rs .

That is the most risky thing to do with expensive devices such as phones! Good luck with that.

the other day i was trying to ship my graphics card, and I approached DTDC. The bugger at the counter asked me what was in the parcel and I told him its a graphics card. He was clueless, so I told him it goes inside a computer. Hearing this he called up a guy and asked him how much will it be for shipping a graphics card. After he was done, he told me that it will be 2.8k+insurance for a 5k graphics card :O !! I cursed him and went to Bluedart. At first they simply refused saying that they dont carry electronics items, after much haggling though, they agreed to ship it for 4k+insurance @ 2% of the item value :O ! I argued with them, but they were not budging saying that since its a computer part, I have to pay for minimum 10kg parcel weight although my parcel weighed just 1kg. Next stop was TNT, where the situation unfolded exactly the same. Finally I went to First Flight, and after much discussion they agreed to ship the graphics card although they took a written declaration from me that, they were not responsible for any loss/damage to the parcel. I agreed seeing as I was out of option & paid them 272 bucks for the shipping. Now I am praying that the graphics card reaches the consignee safely. :)

Sorry for the long post. Just thought I should share this. And sorry for the OT

FYI - I have had SO MANY bad experiences with First Flight...that even if they offer free shipping + 5k cash, I won't give my item to them. Maybe it's just local franchise issue and their other offices are good. But I have burned my hands way too many times :(

No DTDC for expensive items, full of thieves, I had worst experience with them. Better go for overnite express they have separate service for electronic items. Bluedart didn't accept mobile once I tried to send it.

@gannu : I completely agree with you , but If we declare whats inside the box and the price , the thieves will be attracted towards it , so I usually write hard disk for service :)

I never had any kind of bad experience till today :D

Aramax was great until it was in my city, but as their head office shifted then i had no choice than to switch to dtdc :(

^ Free shipping is just for the sake of putting it on the listing. Don't fall for that :P The shipping cost is included in the price
