and i saw this video on TV recently where in with the latest update, iPhone can also work as GPS system, not as accurate i guess, uses cellphone towers to pin point position or something like that, works in India as well?

downloading the app as we speak..will post back if it wortks or not

LocateMe works pretty all right. Accurary is not to the T though. It plots you using cellphone tower triangulation/quadrangulation/etc. and then plots you on Google Maps. Generally it shows me within 50m of my actual location.
Not as accurate as satnav but hey, this is free functionality and quite innovative!
