I use an HTC Touch (windows mobile) and would trade it for an iPhone anyday, because for the stuff I use a phone for it simply cannot be beaten, i.e browsing, music, msging etc.. browsing on a WM phone is a pain in the ass but on my iPod i practically shut down my laptop and go sit somewhere comfortable and browse :D

Seed, man you were a true HTC Touch fan . I remember you quoting more than thousand times about ways to tweak the Touch and beat the lag issues. Also seen you around bashing the iPhone ,but looks like when you have actually used the iPod Touch you are absolutely thrilled by it .

Although i havent used the iPhone personally, i have heard a lot of ease of use and impeccable screen. No phone has a 3.5" display . The LG Viewty comes closest with a 3" screen but apart from the cam there is nothing attractive in it.
The HTC Cruise has been catching my eye lately. Qualcomm 400 Mhz processor, GPS , Enhanced TouchFlo. 2.8"

The only thing that is putting off my iPhone purchase the A2DP, I mean comeon its 2008 already............

I am buying 1 for my cousin but I wont purchase one for myself. No A2DP and no SMS forward is big No No for me. And yes I have used iPhone personally.

At 20k price, phone better be a smart phone with full PDA functionality or its waste of cash IMHO.

I heavily rely on Dopod 818 WM6 phone for emails and sms and I will keep using this platform unless a decent fw or hardware upgrade of iPhone comes.

The only thing i like about it is its sleek looks and GUI thats it.

Yeah. The Touch is still a great phone, and it surely beats the iPhone for power users but for my usage which is basically music, videos, sms etc the iphone definitely wins:bleh:

Let's put it this way, what you can't do natively, you can do via 3rd party support. smsD let's you forward, delete and send group messages for instance. iMMS let's you send multimedia messages. The only issue I dislike about my iPhone is the severely crippled Bluetooth functionality. Even so, I wouldn't trade it for any other phone in the market right now. It's the best multimedia, web-surfing, and gaming phone out there. Yes, gaming! Have you seen how games take advantage of its accelerometer? it's mind-blowing. And let's not talk about its graphical and physics capabilities. Try out this program called iPhysics and see how well it manages rag-doll effects in real-time.

Basically, to all those iPhone dissers out there, you may not like the iPhone - that's fair enough, but I hoped you guys have formed your opinions after using it and seeing it capabilities for yourselves rather than just reading about it on the internet and on threads such as this one.

I get to handle iPhone daily. 2 people at work have it. And in break i end up playing gravity on it :P
Multimedia functionality is the big bonus of iPhone. but you get that from iPod touch as well. Thats where the problem lies. It lacks some critical functions, even 3rd party softwares cannot fill each and every gap.

The phones that are in its price bracket here in India have soo much more to offer.
Phones almost half its cost offer full PDA functionality and A2DP.
Syncing with exchange server was the critical reason for me dropping the iPhone from my purchase list. Lack of this functionality simply wont do for many people out there. Not everyone wants to carry 2 phones with him to work.

Erm hellooo.. the iphone has to be unloacked/cracked/whatever.

Not everyone is a geek to unlock it themselves, and i dont get the point of buying an expensive phone, then paying extra to make it usable. If you are loaded, fine, go get an iPhone..

The whole d pad (up down right left navigation, and select key) has been emulated..So baically i can use my phone(multimedia) without even touchin navigation keys..

N games, yes...Try the new ngage app with Nokmote...Its wat gaming has become:clap:  ...lol(hate to say that line..i know ngage is not that great as yet..But it better anyday than gaming on anyother phone..)

Well jus read iphone cant be used as modem

Fair enough, but my point was that Apple hasn't advertised the iPhone as a gaming phone and yet you get such incredible functionality. In the case of the N95/82 etc. that come with n-gage support, they're explicitly and officially advertised as multimedia and gaming phones as well.

Both nokia and apple have advertised their respective phones as multimedia phones..Nokia cant dare to advertise as gaming phones as they have already faced a lot of flak regarding the delay in the ngage2 platform, atleast not till its officially launched...
What i think is that the comparision is basically not fair for iphone cause in native markets where its been launched its available for 16k..where as n95/82 >21k
Whatever way u look at it, except a few innovations, the total functional use of n95/82 wud be much better..Cause that extra price brings supplementary features lik video out, superb wlan support(it even supports sharing media wid pc on wlan.), A.Gps, and so many more..

Dude my bank doesnt support firefox where the hell they will support safari for netbanking.....Thats the only reason else my iphone plan will get in thrash box.....i m seriously looking at funkys offer

whta bank magnet?

AFAIK, only ABN Amro's site refuses to work on other browsers

and i saw this video on TV recently where in with the latest update, iPhone can also work as GPS system, not as accurate i guess, uses cellphone towers to pin point position or something like that, works in India as well?

Love it or hate it but you can't ignore it ;)

After using the iphone for 2 days i just feel that all the nokia's are bricks when it comes to functionality compared to the iphone. Although the new sony windows mobile phone looks pretty promising, and competes with the iphone head on. So lets see how things evolve over the next 2-3 years until which im stuck with my n73me :P
