Isn't it unfortunate that the home music systems are totally gone and......

The frequency response of the ones recommended does not go lower than 70 Hz, from memory of earlier threads

Just add a sub why leave it out
These specs on paper sound very different in real. I had Swans M50W 2.1s, was not satisfied, got the Kalip LP6 and I don't miss a sub, sound quality difference is huge. Have heard cheaper MAudios also, all sounded better than Swans M50w.

I used Edifier R1855DB for 4 months, it's really good for music and movies for a small room.
Recently upgraded to Q Acoustics M20 HD, This really plays anything you throw at it and does that really well.
Be it music, movies or games. I think I'm settled for few years now.
I would recommend M20 HD for it's all round performance. Even try Edifier R1855DB if budget is low.

I am assuming the specs are honest. If they are not then what you said happens.

Nothing beats a listening test but I insist on lower frequency capability. You're not a bass head so you don't need it.

I had to really turn down the bass on the Kalis. It has more bass than those 2.1s and it feels in the chest.

Since you are so much into numbers check this out:

The JBL LSR305II is probably the best 2.0 one can buy for cheap (Only drawback is it does not have RCA but the LP6 does)

Here you go my lord.

If OP can stretch budget these are excellent options.

Guys... It seems someone in their utter passion to help didn't realise that I am infact asking if anyone had any experience from LR mkt...
As far as budget goes I can stretch it to any length, as i have done in the past though I didn't have any knowledge of what to buy at that time....
Point here is I don't wish to invest so much as I won't be getting time to listen... It's an urge to understand the scene and see what others are using and if I can find so etching suitable....

Nice that most of the guys are chipping in with their knowledge as this would help all of us... Kudos to my ma @blr_p, @Rockfella @nitin_g3 @john1911
@greenhorn @krsamy for their time and valuable inputs and suggestions...

ok, so this was really frustrating. I was looking for sound tests for these Kali speakers and I went through so many videos and none of them has any sound tests. One of the reviewers said it would not be accurate. So none of them does any

Does not have to be accurate Best efforts like some follow is good enough. Binaural recordings they're called recorded with binaural mics. The headphones or in-ears use artificial ears. How come these studio speaker geeks who are big into theory and room measurements and mixing stuff ain't figured that out yet and I DO MEAN NONE OF THEM !!!!

Compare that with BT reviewers and you hear the speakers talk more than the reviewer. Of course, those guys don't review these kinds of speakers.

Found a couple that gives somewhat of an idea. Needs headphones to hear the bass. The next problem is they don't play much music with bass in it. So there is the one or two odd tracks and that is it. And this shortage is there when there are over 50 reviews just for this speaker :banghead:

they can do mids and highs perfectly well
If OP can stretch budget these are excellent options.
What matters is how far away he sits. Living room means at least 3m away. Then the LP-8 should be considered instead of LP-6 which is supposed to be used much closer

I like numbers but demo even better since i don't have access to these speakers

You will have to go and listen yourself. Monitors can be clinical and not fun sounding. Somebody will say they like this speakers sound but its graphs might not be the best.

That is a speaker tuned for listening enjoyment rather than accuracy. It has its place if not with purists. If anything its likely to be hated because it does not conform

Fun-sounding speakers work great for some genres and not so much for others. Which is most commercial brands that get slammed by the purists for bad tuning.

The studio monitors are a jack of all trades with their as close to flat response curve if not the best at any genre but showcasing what every genre has. Some people think this is the only way to listen to music because it is the most true representation.

The review which @Rockfella linked to has the listening test at the end. Some equalization is needed to get the best out of them.

What sound tests are you referring to ? Just playing them and recording them to YouTube ? I am not sure how much comparable it would be to a first hand demo. Look at the product specs, then the reviewed specs and if they match then take a first hand demo. If you like it buy it.

Like this or this

Not only do you get graphs you also get to hear the difference and how those graphs sound.

Nealy five years I've been picking out what to buy just by listening to how they sounded on YT. I'd never have decided on the Onxy had it not been for Alan's work

Not so bad if it's done properly

You do realize that the audio chain goes like this -
Original speaker -> Microphone -> Recording and mixing or Youtube server, if live -> Your speaker/headphone

And? it's good enough to hear the difference between speakers and from the last three I bought on this basis is what I expected

Not done live usually. Not possible. Always recorded and spliced in. Always listen with headphones. Speakers if they are good. But I find it easier to hear differences with headphones and mine aren't studio quality.

those two guys get lots of flak from purists for the reasons you mentioned but they continue as is to improve their craft where possible since the last five years when everyone else flakes out with your excuse. A cop out.

It's not easy to do but it's possible to an acceptable level with experience and the recordings are not so bad when heard with headphones. Do you hear any room echo? none at all but that is endemic in 99% of recordings when other people try. And they then give up because it is hard to do.

Granted its easier to do with a single speaker. Stereo speakers would need two mics but I don't see why that would not also result in similar acceptable recordings.

I do find my Kalis bit boomy, I have a feeling I will like the JB LSR305II more. They still retail for 24k. I don't think can beat them at this price (25/26k)

If I am in the market for a Kali LP6 or any such speakers, I will never base my purchase decision on youtube reviews. I will insist on a first hand listening session, if a friend has it or in the place of purchase, before committing a penny. But that is just me so please feel free to ignore.

If I were to purchase any audio equipment, I would read the reviews, see the standard graphs and then compare them to the graphs of something I have heard/own, then read the reviews where they compare the model with something I have already heard/something I own. Maybe try to audition the device somewhere. Never ever based on the YouTube reviews where they play those speakers in front of a camera.

I had the same mind set but went with YT videos anyway. No regrets. Not saying you should do the same, just sharing what I did. I had no clue where to demo these monitors. I checked not one but multiple reviews, not all of them can be sellouts to promote this new startup I guess. I never really enjoyed the Swans M50W, gave it to my cousin and the volume knob of it does not work now. That 22k set is almost useless. I have used : ATP3, Edifier DA5000 Pro 5.1, Swans M50W, not satisfied. With the Kalis my quest for good PC speakers ended. I am so happy with these I don't feel the need to use ATHM40x and the BLON 03.

Yes, I could hear that a little bit in those samples. Due to passive radiators. Tight bass is not easy to do or cheap
