Sometimes I wish Israel would have done same to Pakistan's nuclear plans...they almost were ready to hig Pakistanis but America didn't wanted India to have an major edge over Pakistan and stopped.

It's not about edge but solidarity. Take yourself back to 1979. What happened? Russians enter Afghanistan. Americans rely on Pakistan to aid the Mujahideen.

After operation Opera. The Americans were furious. They were not informed and again see the situation. Iran iraq war began. US is opposed to Iran. So enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Reagan delayed delivery of F16s that were due to Israel by nearly two years.

So India would have to defy the US in this instance. In the 80s India wasn't weak. We had a currency swap agreement with the Soviets for oil right throughout that decade.

We had the capability by the time the Mirages arrived.

Yet we didn't go ahead. I wonder what pressure the US could bring to bear here given Indira was no pushover and with the likes of General Sundarji around there was no lack of guts to go around either. He simultaneously threatened both Pakistan & China with conflict by his operations on both fronts.

Not sure hows the stealth capabilities.

The surface to air missiles have gone way ahead in terms of detecting enemy planes and strike it.

India does not have issues with the world so long Range bombers not sure it is meant for us...atleast for next 2-3 decades when we start playing bigger role.

Hamare issue is only with two countries...a terrorism export factory and another is virus spreading country.

I think nuclear submarine are best for us.
Just quietly launch missiles from anywhere.

Discount sale from Russia during difficult times, may be ? Otherwise, they were tough nuts to negotiate with, this is our chance to be tough nuts
Heard there were enticing discussions ongoing about SU-75 too, which is much more interesting.

Strategically TU 160M may not be that important for India, but to have few as 'weird flex' won't be bad

Any deal India does there is very high possible and almost 100% that some or few Indians is going to make big money behind the scene.

The discount that Russians will offer will not have any benefit in any saving for tax payers.

Plus that aside there is lot in maintenance expenses too for something we may never use.

I like your idea to have few of these but looking at the state of poor infrastructure and all. We really should focus on only things really needed.

This kind of luxury neither can India generally afford or deserve it atleast for now.

The Rafale/ 4-5th gen deals are majboori. We are very low on squadron count.

Whereas Chinese are rapidly increasing their fire power in sea,land and air.

Land mein toh we can deal with them.but Air and Navy needs lot of catcing up.

SU-75 also may be interesting since its latest technology with lower cost.
All you mentioned is very very correct. In real world we are struggling to build proper basic infra for public, all the while paying extravagant taxes without any benefits to show off.

I have not read much on SU-75.
It does seems superb on paper but Russian supplies are questionable at time
Beside this war who knows how long it will continue.

France is a very reliable partner for India.
But this whole Rafale deal was badly mismanaged otherwise we were getting great deal.

The delayed it so much that cost went 2-3 times to what France was offering( ofcourse we kept adding requirements but even that means we were not ready when we were negotiating).... On top trying to giving Anil Ambani company license to make it...uske company ne kabhi Airplane ka tyre bhi nahi banaya. They were going to ask him to make fighter jets.

I hope I don't sound wrong but if truth to be told..this country is full of scam every corner and nook.
Every sector even something as imp. As defence has been highly corrupted.
