I think the buyer is right, false projections of the ability of the product is bad.

why cant people be more open and straight forward? we are a community after all.

The seller for this sale, lied. Plain and simple.

His review states this:
In India, Dell ships Avermedia Nanoexpress HC82 TV Tuner card for laptops, Avermedia has its own remote and blaster, but Dell customizes it and sends its Own Dell MCE Remote ( P/N: OFW195) model RC1974507/00 , IR Blaster (Model: OVU412002/00 ) (helps in receiving the signals from Remote) and IR emitter cable (which you connect at the back of IR Blaster and the emitter helps send signal to the set top box to change channel etc. ) . Dell does not send any documentation with this in India and says to download documentation for all this from website but it is not their either ... all the buttons on the remote, what they are for, even tech support has no clue about it. The Dell MCE remote has a very good range and a blue light glows when you press any button. The IR emitter cable is long enough to connect to nearby boxes. The IR Blaster connects to the USB ports and Vista detected is a eHome Receiver. For all this thing to work, you have to be in the Media centre Mode. []

I have attached the photo of the Avermedia Nanoexpress HC82 TV Tuner card Express card provided by Dell with its laptops in India ..... its shows the accessories that come with it which is quite different from the accessories provided by Avermedia if you buy this directly from market. This is a stripped down version of the actual card, with less capabilities, also Only Xp/Vista MCE will work with it, Avemedias own software i.e. Aver Tv and Aver Media centre will not detect this card even after installing original drivers in Dell systems. Specially the FM radio will not work though the original card from Aver has FM features. Dell does not specify this while selling it (sales person is too ignorant about this and dell website does not even name the card, just says tv tuner card) . one ends up spending around 4000/- to get a incapable card. People have even faced issues with Video capture. The worst part is all agents in Dell tecnical Support in India have no training or idea about this. They keep the case open saying we will do some research in the lab and get back to you. Dell should clearly mention what they are selling, not doing this is a clear violation of consumer rights. I will not reccomend this card but suggest buying the card directly from market.

The seller provided the following inputs when probed by the buyer:

The Avermedia link that I have sent you says that it has FM ... I have never tried it.
How was the above review written. Lying to pawn the product. Not even misleading, just denying the tests he has conducted.

I was not able to check FM but I cheked tv reception, camcorder connection,
video recording etc and specially card compatibility with other hardware.
Compatibility had been tested by the seller, and its failure for current OSs. Again denial of FM usage, which was critical to the buyer.

Further more, the seller guided the buyer to the product guide which does not match the product in dispute. The closing line of the review states that he would not recommend it this product. But he goes ahead and sells it off. Clear case of pawning a defunct and useless product via lying and deceitful means. Shame.

^ thanks a lot @asingh

I received a message from the seller . let me quote it without any snip

Happy posting dear. I have also gone through yr grievance link and read the discussions going there. You people are too smart to blame anyone just becoz u think u got cheated without getting into the facts. This product is not manufactured by me neither I got it made for myself from a OEM vendor. So obviously I dont know each n every thing about the card. It was purchased from Dell India with my laptop as a bundeled package. Neither had they mentioned in their website about this card about its feaatures nor did the sales guy/tech agent knew about this. They are gave me the Aver link saying its the same card. They dint even mention what all they will give with my card. But I ordered becoz I had limited options.

When The card came I dint bother to check all the features as I just plugged it to see if the card was functional but some features were not getting highlighted so researched and also asked the tech support guy but they are all clueless. So i dint do further experiment as there was no sure shot info what will work n what will not. Sso just packed it back. So does that mean Dell Conned me!! Dell is selling it to so many customers worldwide so why dint any one sue Dell.

I sold it simply becoz it was lying idle with me, simple, I had no intentions to conn anyone neither I said any lies. You all have mouth and fingers to type so just put yr thoughts. Second hand sales are like this, people sell it coz they need money or want to get rid of things. They dont charge u for warranty, service or take profit. Its sold much below the market price, they also suffer the loss. Your thought process is quite deviated and misalligned. If you just intend to rubbish someone, I cant help.

So the seller still thinks that we know nothing about his lies:)...And since he got conned he thinks its okay to con everyone...

very misled sense of ethics.

he did not get the correct response from Dell so he thinks he can spread lies all over any of the forums...

Its great that this was detected in his first deal itself...

And going by the sellers response...It clearly loooks that he is going to carry on his trend of lying in all his future trades:)

Happy trading with this guy..folks

Seller indeed a thug, cheated innocent buyer cleverly. Either he should return money otherwise would be blacklisted with mods discretion to refrain further frauds.

@ seshu

Can you give number of the chip used? I will try to find drivers and appropriate software to use with windows XP/Vista/Win7, excluding server windows.

Seller is clearly at fault here. I cannot even imagine dealing with such people. He knew the card won't work and knew that FM doesn't work but lied to the OP that FM is not tested by him. This is a simple con job.
@m-jeri : I cannot believe what kind of ethics you believe in to support such blatant lying.

@virus32win
Thank you friend for your kind words ... sadly I did not find any usable info of the
card . it is a sealed one to be inserted into Dell laptop's side slot . All known best
applications refused working with it ( eg. winamp TV plug-in , ChrisTV , GB-PVR , ... ) :(

thank you @akg7091 :-)

edit :
friends (including supporters of the seller) , please forgive me if I miss thanking you ...

he mised , you believed ....your bad...now he has a bad rep and he cant sell here again...but i dont think hes obligated in refunding you , you can always sell it on to someone else..... you just believed his advertising and you have learnt a lesson , trust noone

Agreed, but This is TechEnclave.

Here, such unethical practices (Lying, misguiding, and then refusing) are NOT supported. Today market section, tomorrow dealer's paradise; Everyone will start taking unfair advantage of the forum to sell their incapable stuff.

And then they'll get away with a single Negative Feedback (incase its a market deal) or No feedback (incase a dealer deal goes bad, the buyer is afraid to give negative feedback as he may need the dealer's support in future).

Hence this deal should be given a perfectly fair decision from the mods without delay. Atleast a negative iTrust on the Seller right away.

it is express card , which is in L shape . below is its small image

avtvcard.jpg

the label on the card says that it is AverTV Hybrid NanoExpress

HC82 (DVB-T)
with TV , PVR , AV-in symbols . FM is not mentioned .

This is clear cheating.. Even if you neglect all the stuff about how seller lied and cornered his way around OP's queries... he has made one big mistake, one big lie in giving the wrong product link. He has given the link to some other product while selling a cut-down version of it.

So, even if OP was to search the internet or whatever to find any details, he would still be misled because he would have been searching for the wrong product all the time...So, no, it is not buyer's fault at all..

And from the evidence given (reviews etc), seller very well knew what he was doing and chose to withhold that information...

Now...Its all left to the Mods..

Moreover the seller is aware of the thread and he chose to PM the buyer instead of posting something here directly...

But I have not seen even a single guy in favor of the seller (except m-jeri who I think has changed his mind). So I think we have a unanimous decision here.
