Jio to Launch 5G on Aug 15

Any thoughts as too what kind of speeds are expected in the metros , i mean if its around 10Mbps , it will make my Alliance Broadband 100 mbps obsollete.
I feel very proud that we beat our neighbours Afghanistan, Pakistan and Myanmar in 5G race.
We should be proud , cause after all its our country .

5g is even worse than 4g, atleast in my city, I've had to manually lock my phone so as to not use 5g, When 5g is enabled on my phone, it keeps switching back and forth to 4g, 4g+ and 5g, which makes the connection unstable, sometimes even unable to receive calls, also speeds aren't that great either if you put aside "speedtests"

speed tests are sham they hit nearest server which are about within the city or town limits

Don't think current iteration of 5G will give promising results without direct line of sight antennas unless fixed wireless antennas installed where users are present.

This is still a Testing phase and the end users being used as Live Testers. I am guessing by the end of First quarter of 2023 we should start seeing a stable broadcast of 5G network.

Being in Bangalore, I still dont see 5G on my Jio connection in my area.

No wonder 4G has been behaving so badly. Never had such a bad experience of 4G until now. Although 5G seems promising, but then again, most of us would need to upgrade our phones.

Does 5G radiation harm human tissue?
Is this Juhi Chawla?

Joking aside. 5G or anything else for that matter, uses electromagnetic radiation. Our visible light is a part of that electromagnetic radiation. Now, bulbs in your house are radiating what 5 watt? maybe 10 watt? Whereas 5G or even wifi radiate power less that a few miliwatts.

So, if the electromagnetic radiation generated by your light bulbs doesn't give you cancer then there's no way a thousand times weaker radiation generated by 5G will.

My experience is opposite. With the launch of 5G, I saw common 4G speeds went up. Another reason 5G doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's a good to have feature but everything is working fine without it.

Good for you mate. Recently it has been irritating to use mobile data but I'm glad I don't get to use it considering I'm WFH rn. Hope it gets better.
