:)I know.... Same old redundant topic:(....but my requirements are a little different...so need suggestions for buying a 42" TV

Requirements:
Budget: 40-50k
Usuage: general Tv viewing (Airtel DTH), XBOX 360 and 30% for HD movies and sometimes may be for PC gaming
Connectivity: need 1 0r 2 HDMI and analog and dvi and component in's

I was thinking of the below earlier:
LG PQ70: 42" Plasma with bluetooth and divx-usb support. Costs around 41k

Guys need ur suggestions if I should go with the above or buy something else.

My budget is kinda fixed as Its mainly for my dad who doesn't care much about HD stuff....just good looking stuff

Thanks a lot guys....

Check out the Panasonic G10 or S10 as well. They're full HD, and much much better than any other Plasmas available in the market. Pricing should be around 50-60k.

Thanks guys...

But don't u think for 60k I can get a decent LCD also:)... LCD will give me a better quality in ambient light.

BTW: I chose the PQ70 becasue of the cheap price and good picture quality:).... I don't care much about the blue tooth and the divx player.... I would go for a better TV at 50k also

If it helps I bought an LG LF20 42" 1080p LCD TV for around 50,000 .The primary reason for the purchase over a 720p is so that I can connect it to a computer, otherwise I would have got the Pq 30 for around 38 to 39k

By the way the pq30 is the same as pq70 with the exception of bluetooth ,usb poet and the speakers<which are slightly better>,so there you go

the PQ30 has resolutions of 1024*768... but the PQ70 is 720p

Also i guess 42" LCD is a better deal at 50k than a 42" plasma at 45k ? What do u say guys?

Also, I checked out the SAMSUNG PS42B450.... any ideas how this is?

for around 50k a 42" lcd is a great price but if you use only for watching basic tv than i'd suggest a 720p plasma if you get it for around 38.

cause even with a set top box one still does not get a 720p transmission,if i'm not mistaken.

You can get the Panasonic 42S10 for 45k in Delhi.

are u sure its S10 and not the X10 or C10,since its highly unlikely that its priced that cheap.

@vercetti
for ur budget of 50k u can only get 42 inch sized plasma, yes the 42B450 is great choice ,i would rate it better then the LG PQ30/70,although its can't be found as common as LG plasmas.
the LG lcds have poor black levels compared to plasmas.if u are a heavy gamer,u can go with the lcd unless u don't mind some image retention in plasmas which is temporary though, can go away within a few minutes to sometimes within a few days.
but if ur budget is about 60k,then u can also consider the samsung B530/B550 or the sony S550A(compare india price 59k).

Thanks adder....
I am a heavy gamer....but for all my PC gaming needs i will have a 24" full HD monitor... the Plasma will only be for xbox 360, airtel dth and some HD movies:)
What do u recommend?

Is samsung 42B450 or the sony S550A worth the extra moolah considering my needs?

the samsung plasma is cheaper so i don't think u are spending extra cash, for the sony well it does have lower input lag then the samsung B5xx lcd and the best SD performance.whether its worth the extra money,is entirely upto you.

The LG and Samsung plasmas are trash compared to Panasonic's full HD S/G/V10 series of plasmas. Bluetooth on the PQ70 isn't any great shakes either. You can only stream music onto the telly from your mobile phone and stream the telly's audio onto your bluetooth stereo headsets for late night listening. That's cause the telly supports the A2DP Bluetooth profile. Quite a rubbish and gimmicky feature I think.

Now Panasonic's full HD G10 with a native/static contrast ratio of 40,000:1 is ideal for watching movies. The only LCDs that can match it in terms of colour accuracy are Samsung and Sony's LED edge/back-lit TVs.

the S10 and G10 does indeed have good blacks, but not so great SD performance compared to samsung.
secondly its above is budget.he is also a heavy gamer.
the panasonic or for that matter the kuro doesn't even have a static contrast of more then 4000:1,let alone 40000:1,that also applies to lcds with LED backlight.

I can increase my Budget but with the panasonic S10 and G10 give the same performance in SD content... I will be using the Tv 70% for SD content

well not always but in the case of samsung 42B450 it has decent upscaler.for a FHD tv u can compensate by increasing ur viewing distance.

Just get a Full HD TV i would suggest.

And imo if possible dont get the plasma, stick with the lcds.

Samsung -LA 40B530 or LA 40B550.

Sony - KLV 40S550A

Totally confused by the below statement:S Do u mean to say the full HD's will give better performance to SD content compared to the 720p TV's?
Also, What's the major advantage LCD's have over Plasma's when SD content is concerned?

@Adder: What do u recon... PQ70 or the Samsung? thinking about SD content and xbox 360 gaming only:)
