Monitors LG C2 42 OLED as a computer monitor

I've been brainstorming about replacing my 27 inch 2k + 24 inch 1080p monitors with a single 42 inch OLED LG C2 for the below reasons

* has the same ppi as my 27 inch 2k screen
* As big as both 26 + 24 inches combined ( Still room for more )
* 4k 120hz Gsync and Feeesync
* It's an oled, so inky blacks, best response time, better than gaming monitors.
* It's a Smart tv, so I can watch OTT as well as browse using built in browser without even turning on my PC

Downsides:

* Burn In especially in desktop mode since there will be lot of static content, but oleds have matured a lot and are a lot more resilient to burn in nowadays
* Expensive, costs 75k.

Are any of you guys using a TV as a monitor, would like to know your thoughts

Local shop in my hometown is selling it for 75K. But rest of the shops are selling it for a highly inflated price. Even Amazon is selling it for 81K, With card offers during sale, it will come close to 75K. 2022 is almost over, So it's due a price drop as new model will be launching soon, even Croma and reliance digital will drop the prices.

Thats a pretty great price. The LG shop as well as Lotus electronics here said 90k for 42 and 94k for 48inch. I went ahead and bought the Samsung Odyessy Neo G7 for 63.5k. Also i couldnt fit the 42 on my desk and my distance is not far enough from the screen to utilize the 42. New launches in india are nowhere close and dont expect any more price reduction for the next few months. So if you can use the 42inch id grab it rn at that price. It might increase since diwali is over.

Samsung Odyessy Neo G7 is a great monitor, I consider it as well, but I wanted a single monitor which can replace 2 so the 42 inch C2 seemed like the best fit for me. BTW when did you enquire the price of the C2?, In Amazon price was retailing for 1.1 lac a month ago, price dropped to 81K very recently, Also in the Amazon reviews, one guy has mentioned that he got it for 75K from LG best shop 2 weeks ago.
 
I use a C1 - it’s the best monitor (TV) I’ve used - definitely worth it. Have over 2500 hours SOT - no burn in issues but taking some precautions like auto turn off, black background, auto hide taskbar etc. check out oled_gaming sub on Reddit for settings profiles.

I had also got 5 years extended warranty on it - however it remains to be seen if this covers burn in as I have seen and read conflicting information on this . It was sold to me by LG with the assurance that it is covered

I also was thinking of buying the c2 but went ahead with the neo G7 because I don't wanna babysit my monitor and the LG screen size was too large. Hopefully it arrives without qc issues

That's some positive news. Are you using the 48 inch C1?. Isn't that a bit too big to be used as a monitor?

What's the standard warranty of the TV?. Is 5 years including in the standard warranty?
How much did you pay for the extra warranty?

I've been using one for the last couple of months. Works very well as a gaming monitor - much better SQ than other panels in the market (have tried higher end IPS and VA before this). I find the size too large for work. Two side by side monitors work better for that. My earlier office setup was two 22 inch monitors, which I found it much more comfortable than a large 42 inch single screen on a desk.

I liked the Neo G7, but I wanted 1 screen which replaced two monitors, also not a fan of curved monitors. That's why I'm thinking of going with the C2.

The G7 will still look super crisp due to its high PPI and also the HDR will smoke the OLED with its high peak brightness.

Buy I don't think burn in as bad as it used to be, especially with the EVO tech LG is using in their C2, I'm yet to see any evidence or pics of c2 or c1 burning in, but they are relatively newer models, so only time will tell.

HDR will look better on the OLED imo because of infinite contrast. The brightness difference is negligible. I do agree a curved screen is not for everyone, it takes some getting used to. I got the neo g7 for 54k which is one of the reasons I pulled the trigger on it. Good luck with the purchase :)

Thanks for your suggestion. How far are you sitting from the TV, that play a huge role in your comfort with the big screen. Also, you can use Fancy zones to simulate two 22 inch monitors within the tv.

That's the best thing about using a TV as monitor, you can simulate a 34 inch ultrawide a 38 inch ultrawide or even two 24 inch monitors. It's crazy.

The distance is fine. Two issues - ABL and screen height, which makes it less than ideal for work.

RIP odyssey, waited 10 days for this. Gonna have to go wait another 20 days now for pickup and replacement
