how about an unorthodox solution?
get an MX for the front channels and a cheaper 2.1 for the rest of the money to cover the surround aspect. if you get a 2.1, you'd be getting in effect s 4.

hyeah: you will miss the center , but if you are gonna be keeping your front speakers on the desktop itself, you wont be missing much

as long as the cheaper 2.1's remain in surround duty, there wouldnt be much panning loss due to the non matched front and rears.
and yes , as far as i know , at this point , the MX is *unbeatable*
