^^Now why should that be..? Blame the government again for horrid payscales that tries to pay teachers a salary less than a sweeper. With such rules in place, who do you think would want to work in schools. To get the best talent into teaching, you need to compensate them well. Otherwise only the people who have nowhere else to go will land up in the teaching profession. Treat them with respect and you'll see good people coming to teach.

I totally agree with this rule, I HATE MATHS, basic std X maths is okay but after that all those integrations, trignometry etc suck. I dont want to be a mathematician.

I could go on on about this, but i think the goverment has taken a good decision.

btw y r u guys gettin so mad abt this, maths will be optional not removed completely Choice is always good.

maths becomes tough due to incompetent teachers. i used to love maths till my 7th cause i had good teachers who could explain the concepts clearly. they have to be logicall very strong to explain the concepts to students.

sure thing dude we had the best math teacher ever;)

Thats why, Basic X math should not be made optional.

Well you are contradicting yourself here... high school math is what they want to make optional according to the thread creator which an absolute rubbish move IMHO.

Ya lol, i guess i got carried away, :)

College maths should be made optional. School maths is okay.

@Enigmatrix - Doing MCA from Pune Univ, but our dept has more maths subjects than normal computer subjects. :@ Its like im doin Master of Mathematical Application.

College maths is optional anyway.

Take Commerce(no high level maths here.... simple + - X / ) :P

Or Arts.

If you are interested in Biology related stuff, then bear with Maths for 2 more years(the +2) and then you rae free from it.

If you want to do something in CS, Mech, IS, IT, etc....etc... and HATE maths, then SORRY :P cant do a damn thing abt it... Maths is the basic for all these subjects :P

I've done both U.S schooling for 2 years and GCSE 'O' levels for 2 years as well, and this is what CBSE needs -

1. Lessen the courses. (esp maths)

2. Remove the Uniform code - It has BEEN PROVEN that kids are more interested to come to school and releases stress if they wear their own clothes.

3. Allow Calculators. Who in this world DOES NOT have a calculator at their disposal? GCSE does allow them!

4. CBSE needs a social subject. For example, in 9th Grade in States - It is a part of the curriculum for get a job. Kids there earn 5$/h. That's Rs.250 approx/h.

No wonder they have a ton of experience.

5. Banish Boards.

If CBSE follows these 5 simple suggestions, it'll really help them lower the stress - Help India win more medals at the olympics - Promote other activities such as gaming and other forms of entertainment - kill suicides and give parents a much easier life to live as well.

Sure, that will also come with negatives such as India actually lowering in academics ranking but i think for all the positives it'll bring in its worth it. We really DON'T need an extra-vigorous academic system to tell how good our country is. period.
