Metro: Last Light - Discussion Thread

THQ CEO made the announcement during the publisher’s FY 2011 final quarter financials.

Last month, domain registrations for "Metro2033LastLight.com," "MetroLastLight.com" and "LastLightGame.com" served as evidence of an upcoming game under some permutation of that title, but THQ had yet to offer anything official about that title -- and it wasn't clear whether that related to a sequel (which has previously been known as "Metro 2034") or some kind of spinoff.

The first part was decent. It was a bit different from the usual. Visuals were nice. A couple of annoying things here and there. I wished it could've been better though. Hopefully this sequel takes it to the next level.

E3 2011: Metro: Last Light Preview | PC Gamer
Another title worth a watch. Although the first one was a lot taxing on the system, it was definitely a good one. Always loved post-apocalyptic based backdrops.

^ Looks fantastic, I didn't play the first one but might go for this if my PC can handle it.

^^ Gun-play felt underwhelming in the first METRO but apart from that -- gun concepts, monsters (especially Librarians) were a blast. The cheesy dialogues helped but I really liked the Novel to game adaptation and how 4A stayed honest to Dmitry Glukhovsky's stark portrayal of a nuclear winter peppered with bastions of human hold-outs besieged by an ever-expanding army of mutants. Lets see how this scores against S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call Of Pripyat, I'm biased to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. since I first got my hands on it.

^Other than the post-apocalyptic backdrops, comparing the Metro titles with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series doesn't make much sense. The latter had some RPG elements built into the game although it was largely a FPS. Metro OTOH was a pure FPS. There are no improvements that can be done to the player, arsenal etc.

^^ Looks great hope they improve on the gun-play that was the only weak link I nit-pick from METRO 2033, now I also must read the books.
