guys, bot x2 550 and m3a78em finally with 2x2gb ddr2 800. previously was having a x2 3800 + asus m2n pv vm.

This bullshit x2 550 is not running faster even to the extent of my 3800+ in which i had only 2x1gb ddr2 667. Whats the reason guys. Didnt test this rig for gaming. But applications like msoffice, IDM, all the softwares install slow.

MSO 2003 will take will take only half a minute time to install in my old pc
But this x2 550 crap takes nearly 3-4 mins. whats the reason ????

And what happened to my GPU temp ???. It was only 52-53 IDle in my old pc with old cabby. But now with my new pc new cabby it has gone to 60. Old cabby had only one fan with cup at the side. I am doubtful regarding the rear fan. In this zeb korea cabby there are two fans at the side and no fan at rear.

Look at the system temp. Is this normal. I updated to the latest bios, and b4 updating fan speed went upto 6000rpm and the proccy temp. 52. Now after updating bios this is my status.

plz c screenshots and tell if there is ne fault with system...

have updated to the latest bios. Using the drivers given in the cd. Is there anything to do with bios to gain good performance ?. plz help
other components of my pc. :

huntkey greenstar 550
transcend memory
250gb hdd seagate
xfx 9600gt
zebronics korea cabby
LG Dvd rom
LG DVDRW
xwave yamaha ds-xg sound card ( Is the sound card causing system slow down ?? plz explain )

slow installs are mostly caused due to HDD. But dun really understand the problem you are having, i mean its not meant to happen, or happened to nybody else.

install the fresh new copy of vista with sp1 or sp2 latest realse

i guess you disabled amd cool and quite patch so enabled this i hope it work :|

guys, this new setup drives me crazy. anyone give me the optimum settings in bios to make this crap work at least to the speed of my old system.

Now i feel cud have stuck to my old pc itself. No use in having this pc. atleast cud have gone for c2d.

These ATI bastards are cheaters. I think nvidia is much better than ati. system is very slow in all aspects. From windows booting to file transfers, everything.

Tell me guys. Is there anything to adjust in the bios. Have the latest bios. Have cool and quiet enabled in bios and installed in windows. Having windows xp sp3. gonna install vista sp1.

in bios have disabled HD audio and all onboard audio related stuff. have also disabled IEEE port.

PLz plz plz guys, dont know what to do . Cant concentrate in my work.

You guys said Phenom II 550 rocks, but it sucks....

plz help me guys. Anyone having the same setup plz help..

^^If you cannot get things working it scusk :| ?

Do as other said reinstall the OS. There are other factors that can make the PC slow .

Temps seems to normal.

Guys stop blaming AMD CnQ :P It only lower the speed when not needed and will shift to normal speed and cache level when needed..

Try reinstalling and do test the Mb and proc. with other system.

Ohh and cursing someone will not give you any results

stop blaming AMD+ATI for problems that you have with your rig. This is classic case of PEBKAC.

Put on a fresh copy of OS and if possible apply some thermal paste on CPU.

AMD X2 550 is lot lot faster than your older processor and if you didn't do fresh install of OS after changing hardware....

ok guys. have reinstalled both xp sp3 and vista sp1 as u said. . But no fruit.

browsing is also slow guys. dont know what the hell is wrong

This is not hdd issue, the same hdd was working fine in my m2npvvm + 3800 setup.

Could it be the ram ? . guys my previous pc is a hell lot faster than this one. Sky and earth difference guys. Thats y m very frustrated. I think hereafter wont be going for any upgrades as i started to hate upgrading because of this .

Plz help me guys. Some say about speed-fan settings, etc etc., I dont find any option in the name of speedfan in my mobo.

Is this proccy not fully compatible or suitable with this mobo. Thats y initially i thot of going for am3 in biostar. But in richie st., not a single person recommends me that mobo and m afraid to buy it.

But Asus is very familiar as Intel . Thats y m inclined to buy this mobo. But dont know whats wrong.

Now the only thing i have to do is to try removing my sound card, since it is a 8 yr old one. But the sound card is working fine.

Do any of u think the sound card is the culprit that pulls back my system ???
Do any of u think using an IDE DVD rom drive along with my sata dvdrw drive is causing some slow problems ???

reply me plz...

@anfjavid: stop cursing and put a new fresh widows copy or any other OS you have...

true , so many ppl , i am also one of them are happy with amd
even i would soon be shifting from my c2d desktop to amd one

Few things you can try doing,

1) Update the BIOS to the latest official one.
2) Format your OS partition and reinstall the OS.
3) tighten the memory timings a bit
4) Bumping the NB frequency will help.

Try doing these things first, It should help :)

Though you were able to successfully install os, I too doubt your hdd might be mapping bad sectors, slowing down your system. Do you have SMART enabled in you bios. Check with some SMART tool, the condition of you hdd or probably just boot with a linux live cd, that might give you some hint.

this is such a stupid thread.

how is software installation & browsing speed got to do anything with a goddman processor.

why dont you 1st & foremost run prime95 to check the stability of the system & confirm if your cpu & ram are proper. then proceed ahead to hdd & other things.

Rather than panicking, relax and think.

U have the Phenom 550 :ohyeah:.

Everywhere around its one the best proccy these days even faster than the Core2Duo's. So, why is it not working for u!

1. In the Pic, ur HDD temperature is very very high at 49C. For reference, mine runs at 31 max. Check ur HDD for bad sectors using software from Seagate Support. This is the biggest thing i can think since file transfers are also slow.

2. Since the BIOS is updated, the mobo is good. If possible, make everything default in BIOS and remove the sound card. Try with these settings.

No use in overclocking or tight memory timings since the system at default should be fast enuf. Then try overclocking.

Cool & Quiet from AMD is very good. It works far better than Intel Speedstep.

My earlier X2 4200+ used to consume less power at idle than my current E5200 which proves it s efficiency.

Also do a stability test using OCCT. The temps of the proccy are fine.

3. For once, make a shift from XP to Windows 7 and see if the new OS favours ur setup. :P And in the power options, choose performance.

4. Finally, last but not the least, the Huntkey. If stable power is not given to the mobo, stability issues will happen. So, get a good PSU from a friend and check with that if it all works properly.

5. Its always better to isolate components. Remove all peripheral devices including DVD drives etc, except the mouse and keyboard.

If all fails take ur comp to a fellow TE member and let him see if he can work out something.

hmm. this is weird. x2 550 and m3a78em should be fine. as stormblast set, test system's stability.

Also try to use your older DDR2 667MHz RAM and athlon X2 processor in the new motherboard and see if you see any increase in speed.

make sure that you have thermal paste as you need to apply paste when you reinsert processor.
