N73 ME, how much better?

^ Well, the n73ME is already slow, whether u fill the accompanying 2gb card or not...u just get used to its speed...i updated my sis' n73me to the latest firmware thinking it'll fasten it up a little bit, but i dont see any considerable difference....i find my p990i much faster than the n73me..:D
 
you can use a 2 GB card. The only thing you have to keep in mind is, don't strew your files all over the card. Just make some directories like "music" "pics" "videos" etc. and sort out the files. Trust me it works even on my 6600 with a 2GB MMC.
 
hey dude n73me rocks .. just pair it with ep 630 and listen to its sound .its speakers are too good .. cam is superb in bright daylight .. its big screen makes it a pleasure to watch movies .. also i just found a soft which can use n73cam as fixed focus one with very good quality .. so no more autofocus lag:bleh: also not to forget A2DP support that has been added now ..

only downsides will be wifi , xenon flash and vga quality video recording , tv out ..
if u want these .. then better wait for n82 :)

n73me is in a league of its own .:D
 
Hey yogi...how r u doin?? :D Buddy, do u know any way to fasten it up a little bit ..mayb any app...the lag sometimes gets on my nerves...and my reputation is going down the drain..:( Actually,when we had gone to buy the cell, i had told my sis tht its really good and fast..but a few days with it and it was obvious tht it aint all that fast...now she wants me to find a solution to make it work faster...n i seriously cannot find a solution..:no: A few ppl here said tht the latest FW update has made it a bit faster..i updated the fw, but i still dont see much difference...:no: Any app tht may help?? :)

hey ryan .. actually phone is indeed faster after firmware update . its just that it takes more time to boot.. and its pretty fast

about tricks .. maybe uninstall unnecessary softs .. and i think there are few softs which can clean up old files .. not so sure .. maybe someone with more knowledge can help u better ..:)
 
^@Yogi: i've got a software for my p990i, the swiss manager...it frees up memory..and is really good...i dont use it much as its not required most of the time as the phone is pretty responsive w/o it as well..use it once in a while when my phone goes 5-6 days without a reboot..:P neways, such app for the n73 wud be really good..and yeah, it does take a lot of time to boot...:(

And hey does ne1 know why doesnt powermp3 work on n73?? :S LCG jukebox sucks big time..:@ i tried it on my p990i as well, but its pathetic...the stock player is much better than it..:P

@Ice : I'm using one of the stock themes and have around 10-20 sms in the phone...:(

Btw, my friend who has the same phone says, tht the speed is okay and like tht only...nothing can be done about it...u just have to get used to it..:no:
 
@Ice : i have formatted the memory card and have folders like music, pictures, video and documents...the card is 800 mb filled up..mostly songs in the single music folder.(no subfolders)...shud i have a different folder structure??
 
powermp3 has not been released yet for s60 3rd edition ..:( but the default player is very good .. use it with ep630 .. and yeah, i did format my memory card .. i think it did help in making phone faster ..
 
@ryan.... nope... the card structure is fine... the more music you put in, the more time it takes for your music player to startup thats it....

i have no idea why your phone is slow.... I have the N73 basic, my colleague has teh N73ME.... both the phones run quite nicely. Ofcourse we do shutoff the phone once in a week for like 10 mins and the start it up, so that it get more free RAM.... the main trouble is the ram is limited, the less apps you got the better... Use the default blue theme, its the one that is the fastest....
 
Actually, my friend has the n73me too..and after checking his phone, it seems tht nothing is wrong with my sis' n73me...the speed is like tht only..:no: The problem especially arises with the picture viewer...the pictures loading in animated ring thingy is wayyy slow...it takes a lot of time to shift between images..also once a particular theme is selected, it takes too much time for it to be loaded...btw, any idea about the clock speed of the n73me processor? :S the p990i has a 208 mhz procc and it does its job really well..never felt tht it was underpowered..:no:
 
the N73 has a 200Mhz processor... the picture thing takes time, if you have too many images...I have no idea why you feel its slow..
Of course its slow if you comapre to series 40 or SE phones... but i dont feel mine's too much slow..
 
Yeah..just found out tht it has a 200 mhz procc..why did they back track from the arm9 220 mhz procc found in earlier phones like 6630, 6680 etc? :S I came to know tht S90 v2 was very slow...so they employed the higher proccs..but the symbian v3.0 is comparatively faster....but still they cud have retained the 220 mhz proccs..tht wud have given the n73 a good boost in speed...:no:

Btw, is there anyway to have a normal picture viewer n not tht animated thingy? :)

For some reason most apps detects the CPU incorrectly . Infact , doesn't it say ARM5 200 MHz or something like that ?? :P ..

Also , the phone might feel slow not because of the hardware but because of the OS9.1 .. the latest update proves this as the phone has become comparatively faster than the older firmwares ... more releases should make things even better ..

I complained a lot about this phone earlier , but with the latest firmware , some of my complains are gone :P .. hope Nokia rectifies more things soon ..

That time , the best phone around would be Motorola E398 .. costs 1/2 of the 6600 , and being a P2K enabled phone .. was awesome !!! Infact 6600 was so slow , i felt a C350 was better .. lol .. Plus no data cable port .. lol .. bummer ..

Alright will try it..btw, i cudnt find any way to disable the animated stock picture viewer..thts a serious oversight..nokia shud have atleast provided a simple way to browse thru the pics...:no:

Hell, now thts something tht really beats me...:O the 208mhz proc of P990i seems much faster than the 220 mhz proc of n73...:O and the P990i runs on symbian 9.1 too..only difference is tht its the uiq version..:no: How is tht possible?? :O
