N73 ME, how much better?

umm.. you are forgetting the diffrence in RAM between the two phones.. :P
you can visit the images through the file manager if you dont want to use the gallery
 
^^ P990i and the N73 ?? Don't both the phones have 64 MB RAM , and 128 MB ROM ?? :( ... though i expect the P990i to have more free RAM available for the user , unlike the N73 which has around 18-20 MB at most :P ..
 
Now this is really confusing...:O does the N73 have the same ram and rom as the P990i?? :S

also, P990i doesnt have more free ram available..:P with the latest firmware, when u reboot, u have around 16mb of free ram..if u do not reboot for 4-5 days, the free ram goes down to 7-8 mb...:P but still i dont see any difference in performance..infact, i've seen tht when i use apps like swiss manager to free up ram from other background applications, they take a slightly more time to open up than when the memory is already alloted to them...;) So i've stopped using the 'Free up ram' feature...:P N evn with 6-8 mb of free ram, i've played the Vijay singh golf game which is very memory intensive, but the phone never behaved indecently...;)
 
^^ N73 has around 22 MB ram free at startup , with only the music app. running .. after using it for over 6-7 days or more at a stretch , with the latest firmware , with music , contacts , logs and gallery running , in my case the with the latest firmware , free RAM come down to about 11.5-12 MB :P .. And compared to what i bought , the phone has become very responsive comparatively with the newest firmware ...

Plus , i run games like Sil , Fifa 07 , which are 3D games , and are RAM intensive :P , requires about 10 MB ram to run :P ...

And like i said over and over again , the latest firmware is a must . It makes the phone feel so much better .. the UI is more responsive , lower mem. leaks , etc. etc.
 
I already updated the N73 firmware to the latest one...:( neways...i think, i'll have to get used to it..:P thanks for the help..:)

The biggest irritation tht remains is the picture viewer...it simply gets on my nerves browsing thru the pics with it...:no: I'll try out the rosco picture viewer as recommended by Ice..:)
 
i would just like to state my expiriences with my N73:

1) i bot it all new box packed with warranty and all.
it was all good and showed what was it charges so much for.
i installed a few games and themes ... and it was running fine.( Yes browsng thru menu`s was a bit slow as compared to my K790i but it was not at alll that BIG issues to criticise about )

2) i heard about the new firmware usable only for the europe version.
i did some number changes and EUREKKKKA it worked and the new firmware was installed :D

but this change made my cell get more slow. and few errors were also coming from preinstalled programs which i did not uninstall before UPDATING the firmware.

and i carried on with the same for atleast 4-5 days !

3) then YESTERDAY i just felt shud i format my MEM card.... and EUREKA again the fone is much darn faster( although a milisecond diffrence then k790)

hence just wanted to say......

after doing all updating and all... format the mem if possible for u.. and see the diffrence..
one more thing .. there is a date ( to-do-list) tweak for N73..
even i tot it mite some kind of chu-giri.....
but damn it worked..
its goood.
will post in my next reply....... dunno u mite have already seen it.

but just wanted to say it works !
although pircture viewing is still a pain in the A$$ but its bearable...... give it some time and it gets done...then just scroll from one to another
 
why dont u try sony w810i
it has got great features and still a rage in u.k

best part is u r getting it for very good price in india these days
