Guy's be wary when a doctor suggests surgery for Nasal Septum Deviation. Its a pretty common problem no doubt, but a lot of doctors are recommending this surgery without enough reason to justify it and especially to those who have medial insurance. I too have trouble with frequent colds, allergies, sinusitis, nasal blockage in the morning and other Nasal and sinus problems and so does my sis and she had it a lot worse. When my sis went to a couple of ENT specialists, they promptly suggested a corrective surgery for NSD. After going to another another doctor, he laughed when he heard about the suggestion from previous doctors and told that it wasn't required for my sis. He also told that a lot of ENT specialists are making people go through this surgery just to make a quick buck. He gave some medication (sprays and other stuff) which treated her problem to a great extent even for the long term. Even I was suggested this surgery and also another one for sinusitis when I went to an ENT specialist in Mohali. So be wary and get opinions from at least two other good doctors before you decide that this surgery is necessary for you. Considering its such a common condition and people have lived with it through all these centuries, I think we can also live with it.
