Right now leaning towards the sansa fuze 8 gb. any other player within 10k max comparable to the fuze? also is the fuze available here or should i get it through kmd?

video will be used to playback anime or mostly read manga.

forgot to add - will need one with a sd card slot option too

this is the lowest cost i have found. if there's a better option than this pls tell.

Amazon.com: SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black): Audio & Video

How about an ic if the price is good? the only con the fuze has is that we cant browse thru folders. it browses mp3's by id tags which could get frustrating.

Creative X-fi 8gb is like 8.8k-9k here in Kolkata.

But I would seriously recommend Cowon D2 8GB in that case. Cause tthis pmp kicks all these players out of the way, Sound Quality wise, battery life wise, looks wise, feature wise.

Check it out: Here

Free shipping all over India. Mrp is 9999. But find your local dealer in your city and you might get it cheaper. You can find your local dealer in your city also on that site.

extend the budget by 2k, and you can get the best video player as well as decent audio player...The Cowon O2 8GB ie...

Creative zen is an option. comes with a one year warranty too.

Check on ebay for offers. I believe you can get one cheap at rediff shopping too now that there are no more good coupons for use on ebay

Cheers

looking at the playback time of the D2/ O2 even i'm thinking of getting either of the two. The only thing that bothers me is the screen size. (which is just 1.9 inch on the sansa fuze compared to 2.5 inch on the d2)

Will i be able to view the subs on such small screens while playing a video?

can anyone having the d2/ o2 to play video with subs can throw light on this please...

Subtitles on the D2 are clear, say at a distance of 1.5 feet away or even a little further. But the video I currently have has them scrolling across the entire screen, like an introduction of sorts, normal subtitles maybe a little smaller. Shouldn't be a problem though.

okk, so videos with lot of subs in one screen scroll. i think thats expected since the screens so small.

wonder what happens on the s9 or ipod touch type of large screens in landscape mode... most probably just a little better i guess.

It's not a feature on the D2. That's just how the video was made. Something like the introduction to Star Wars :)

Subs for a movie would appear like normal.

Dont go for O2. It got inferior battery life than D2. D2 got 52hrs audio playback and 10hrs video playback. Where O2 got 8hrs of video playback and 18hrs of Audio playback.

Beside the O2 will cost you your kidney. Personally, I think 19k is too much for a PMP device eventhough it supports all the audio formats known to mankind(i can't even name them all), and a huge number of video formats.

D2 is more than enough. And if you really want a PMP then go for D2. It serves all the purpose and supports HUGE number of audio formats...more than you ever use.

As for the quality of the screen. D2 and O2, both have very crisp screen. But in D2, you have to convert your video to 320x240 first.

^^ O2 32gb cost 19k, 16gb and 8gb models should cost less, but yeah read the reviews of O2, and its unresponsive UI is a total deal breaker. I feel at that price Ipod touch would be a better deal anyday, considering the awesome UI...

D2's screensize I feel is a lil too small for videos, but I guess I will stick to D2 for the price, and updated firmwares..

O2 8gb and 16gb models arent available in India, as per the official site. Dunno for sure, though.

Itouch's UI is cool, but do you possibly think Itouch's 'sounds' are as per on Cowon? Itouch cant even keep up with Creative in sound department, let alone Cowon. Itouch got nothing except price and flaunt value.

If you are 'that' serious about watching videos on PMP then get O2. But honestly, you'll get bored watching videos on a PMP (it doesn't matter if it has large screen or small one)after one week.

^^ Reading the reviews, the sound in the video is not great. "neither the BBE enhancements nor the EQ are available in video mode. Only some shabby “3D Stereo” effect is available, which doesn’t do any good."

Cowon O2 Review

And read the UI part, atleast the way he puts it it is a pain browsing music files, with no ID3 support etc. I think if you want an audio only player a D2 is much better choice, for a PMP Ipod touch would be tad better sans the file support.

^^ me three. beng visiting it from past one week just to finalize the pmp.

Man its getting even more hard for me now. The fuze 8gb costs half of the d2 and has good audio quality. Video sucks though. But if like you said a person gets tired of watching a video on small screens then the extra money would be a waste, wouldn't it?

well he was emphasizing on "VIDEO part" thats why i suggested O2, since the D2 screen size is way smaller .

Ofcourse the battery life of O2 is lesser..aint that obvious?..with a bigger screen and higher resolution ...O2 has the same codec support as D2 , Soundquality maybe not be as good as D2, still its fine enough compared to other players on the market .

You can get O2 16gb for 12.5k via KMD

that is true..the biggest disadvantage of o2..lack of ID3 support

Anyways i just suggested O2 coz it seemed the buyer was more bothered abt video part than audio , go for D2 if otherwise.

u can also search more about D2 on head-fi.org.

dude , dont even think of getting sansa view with that 1.9` display for video. ALSO it has only 64k color....which is NO NO for any video display.

2.4` is just an good display size to view anime also SUB looks good on that size.

OT--- just to create more confusion...lol.....ALFA is selling the amazing samsung P2 [worth 11-12k] for only Rs4200 ...but without WARRANTY ,they will provide testing warranty . Its has 16:9 touchscreen, bluetooth audio etc
