@zhopudey-> well, i am gonna be using it for a few months at home when i wont be having nething else to do actually :bleh: and its gonna stay at home for quite some time, plus i intend on taking a completely new rig after i get into my job, this system's gonna be at home for good.

so u ppl stay suggest a 9600? or shud i stick with the 6600? i can spend upto 5 grands max...
 
for a few months ---- 6600 it is....

I suppose you are going to be gaming a decent amount on it..... no point in going for a 9600
 
ok guys he is planning to go for 6600 as i suggested ...... can someone post the latest prices of AGP 6600 128 and 256 MB (XFX brand) .....

Whats the point of going for 256 MB? 128 MB is more than enough.
 
6600 128mb costs Around Rs.5000 AFAIK.

256mb, which is a waste, costs, Rs.6000 AFAIK.

DONT GO FOR BIG! XFX ONLY!

I may recommend Asus too :P.
 
my buddy Rahul just found out that Geforce 6600 256MB costs Rs 7500/- :( :( :( the 128MB version is currently not available with Rashi peripherals :( and its not of XFX, its of ASUS, and as Rahul said, ASUS is pretty overpriced in india. So i guess i shud settle for 6200 :( ... what say ppl? its available for around 3K...
 
u ppl r da bosses, so me shall do as u say :)... now that i cant go for the 6600 :( me shall be back after 3, got a stupid exam to give.. til then please chip in with ur suggestions.... thanx :)

i just called RP tech they said no XFX AGP 6600 is avaialbe .... ASUS 6600 256 is available but quite overpriced at 7500 ....... AFAIK there is no DDR2 from ASUS .... DDR2 6600 was from XFX

i think he will get a 6200 128MB ..... AFAIK all the 8 pipes can be unlocked on 6200 AGP ...... and as the core of 6200 and 6600 are same they can be OCed to same levels ..... .... someone correct me here if i am wrong

I dunno if the ones available now can be unlocked as good as the first batches. If they aren't laser cut they could be.Another thing is most low-end gpus in india are castrated i.e. 64-bit memory. The 9600xt will still be faster. In any case let us know about the 6200's unlockability once your friend gets it. :)
 
Yea thats the bad part, most have 64 bit. In pcie thats for sure, don know abt AGP tho. But i guess u can still find a 128 bit card. May be a little higher but no point goin for 64 bit. If u cant get a 128 bit 6200 go for the 9600 XT for sure.
 
^^ u guys are right ..... just returned from rashi no 128 bit card all are 64bit there are some model 128bit but only PCI-E :( .... and it seems XFX stopped production of AGP 6600 ....

even they said they will get the 6200 after order and it will take 2-3days damn!!!!! .... maybe coz its AGP .... anyways now its between 6200 and 6600 .... lets see wat he will get will keep u guys updated ....
 
i forgot to add this .....

one guy at rashi suggested to but 512MB 6200 lol ..... and that was 64 bit hehe .....
 
yaar.... the miserable 6600 is gonna set me back by 8 grands :( boo hoo hoo :( am soo confused... what to do?
 
^^ lol totally not worth it, better get a 6600gt firsthand for that much or you could get a second hand 6600gt for cheaper.
