Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Did you not follow Ayana's tip? Those fishes can be easily taken down with the Vigoorian Flail. Hit the nearest Muramusa statue and upgrade it. Those fishes would be nothing but a cakewalk now. Like you do to those bats, you will have to do so for those fishes as well so as to gain more orbs. And yeah one more tip, the last but one boss - you are going to use the Vigoorian Flail again to take down those flying skulls. Keep this in mind. This was something I figured out in the later part of the game. :P

You have my respect Ally. Gawd, it would have been so effing hard to have reached this level in the normal difficulty. :fear:

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

I totally forgot about the Vigoorian Flail. I haven't upgraded it at all. I don't have enough amount to upgrade it either. What's the difference of it being on level 1 and maxed out level? Do the combos/damage reduce, if not upgraded?

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

^Not very sure about the advantages of the flail when upgraded but try using those right away and get rid of those irritating fishes.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Got it maxed out. Those piranhas still stick to me as soon as my [] combo ends. I died nearly 8 times trying to get past those stairs of the Imperial palace. I'm so pissed off right now. Taking a break, so will resume it later on.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

What combos are you referring to here? Just swing the flail using square and triangle - don't go for any hi-fi combos which may take time to execute and once the combo depletes, that'd leave Ryu with sometime when the fishes would gladly attack. Keep swinging.

PS: Do keep the health potions and do not use it unless needed.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Triangle executes a heavy combo, so I avoid that. I keep flinging the flail using square, but it pauses at one point and that is when those fcuking piranhas make a mice meat out of me. I can't explain how annoying those creatures are more than anyone else in the whole game. My health bar has crossed more than half the screen, that is how much I have upgraded my health bar. But I think it's the difficulty level which is really taking out my health faster with each damage that I incur.

EDIT: God bless YouTube. I just found out the easiest trick to beat those phantom Piranhas without even getting bit once. I also farmed 1,00,000 yellow essence in just 15 minutes thanks to this trick. Here's the trick:

EDIT 2: Hell yeah! Completed the game finally on normal difficulty. Feel like quite an achievement for a Ninja Gaiden novice player. I couldn't have made it without those health vials and Talisman of Rebirth towards the end. I went in fully loaded and by the time I defeated the final boss, I had one more Talisman of Rebirth with me. Awesome game and I must have clocked 25 hours into it.

Nice! :D

Cheers!

I'm looking for a copy of NGS 2 now. :P

Yeah go for it. That game is even more stressful than this one. Pick the lowest difficulty right from the beginning. I wish they hadn't pussified the gore level in NGS2. You'll definitely enjoy the boss fight though.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Those skeleton fishes are much easier. :D Just upgrade ur Flail to full and use Square combos(Don't use triangle to finish the combos, only square). When ur combo finishes just jump in air and again hit square one-two times and when u land start the combos again. :D Any faqs regarding Ninja Gaiden / Black just ask me. :)

The given trick in youtube video isn't that great.

You have got to be kidding me. I tried it with 'Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang' and those piranhas couldn't even get a single bite out of me. It worked flawlessly for me and it's the easiest trick of hammering away on those pesky lil' SOB's. You just keeping hitting square, THAT'S IT.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Arey lol, I am talking about Ninja Gaiden/Black. There is no Tiger's Fang in that game. By the way first understand what i said. And yes, Vigorian Flail is the best weapon against those skeleton fishes and for Combos AFAIK. I finished the game many times in all difficulty level except Master one somewhere between 2006-08.

From what I understand, you said that YouTube trick wasn't that great. So I was referring to that part. I had upgraded my Flail to the max and also had tried the square combo that you mentioned, but those piranhas would latch on as soon as my square combo decided to take a break. This doesn't happen with the YouTube video trick that I posted. It's a pretty straight forward combo which gets the job done more easily.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Yeah it works but I cannot upload that video becaz I don't have Xbox now. Not only me but my friends used to do this. Why i said about that video, becaz u can take all essence to do Flail Signature Move and u will have a bigger essence and again take this essence + hold some time(1sec) again do the signature move, thus u will get bigger and biggest yellow essence at the end. I do this where u killed the Doku Spirit. And i talking about square combo which is something like S S S<- S. Just leave this matter.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

So I was just mashing my way through the first chapter of Sigma 2 & it seems like the 'Path of Warrior' difficulty in this game = 'Path of Acolyte' difficulty of Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360. So it's relatively easy, compared to the original Ninja Gaiden 2. I completed the first chapter without dying a single time. Defeating the Buddha statue was a walk in the park. I won't complete the whole game all over again as that's quite annoying. Although I did want to check out the much hyped "jiggle physics". :chinese:

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

The blood effect is present in both versions, it's the limb dismemberment which is fucked up in NGS2. The obliteration technique is meant to reflect the Brutality of Ryu's Dragon Sword, but it isn't satisfying enough in Sigma 2.

Isn't this famous for breaking fingers ;-)

Get the term right mister. It is breast jiggling! :gap:

Gawd these Jap develofers are mad lol. On a side note, it appears there are some differences between the X360 and the PS3 version apart from jacking up the visuals on the PS3. I did read up a bit on these sometime back. Cutscenes have been cut short and the gore factor has been toned down. Any idea about the number of boss battles on this one? I recall I had a bad pain on my right fingers after I was done with this title - this is one major button mashing title. :(

Allwyn I suppose the game ran fine from the hard drive? :P

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Not sure how many additional boss fight this game has compared to NGII, but the Buddha statue boss battle wasn't there in the original game. If you're generally asking, then every chapter has at least one boss & mini-boss battle. The visuals are pretty much the same as NGII. I think NGII was more stable with it's frame rates though. It ran perfectly from the internal HDD.

Re: The definitive Ninja Gaiden Σ/Σ2 thread!

Started NGS 2 yesterday. Completed 3 chapters in a single sitting in the Path of the Acolyte difficulty. It was much easier than the previous title since Ryu has a better/longer health bar at the start, he has the Dragon Sword and access to the Lunar Staff, Vigoorian Flail et al in the beginning of the game and the combos kick in without a fuss. The boss battles *sigh* are decent. Upgraded the staff and the flail to Lvl. 2 and the flail is whooping some serious ninja ass! :D

I have a query though - when my TV switches to the game from the XMB, the resolution and the refresh rate is instantly displayed on the top-left corner of the TV for about 2-3 seconds. For Castlevania, Enslaved and AC:B, it used to be 1280 x 720, 60Hz whereas for NGS 2 it displayed 1920 x 1080, 60Hz! Does that mean the game runs at 1080p natively? I read up on several forums that it does and some others say it doesn't.
